SOLO PLAYER PENALTY -- Avg Gear Score Capped @ iLvl 198

RNG has been a component of virtually every MMO since ultima online so I’m not sure why it’s suddenly an issue now.

Which isn’t to say gearing is perfectly balanced; dungeons don’t drop a lot of gear and it can be a slow grind but by the same coin, nobody is expecting to be geared in a day.

Further, you get 200+ gear because you work for it. Even if you can’t time a single M+ but can still bust through ten you will have 3 choices. If you can do 5 time walks you can get a 200 pieces. If you can do 4 mythic 0’s during the week you can get a 213.

It’s slow. I get it. But we have months until 9.1 and if you’re casual you really don’t need that much since the content you are engaging isn’t at the same level as that of raiders.

Everyone, whether solo, pvp, dungeons or raids should have a way to get the same, exact armor.

Massive multiplayer is like life, some like solo, some like grouping or combinations. There is no special, “elite” because they do high end mythics or hard core raiding, I’m 198 and have to get a new weapon from the conquest vendor and upgrade my legendary to 235. I can get more conquest gear and transmog it without losing my night fae set bonus. getting conquest in random bonus, unrated bgs is very slow, 8-40 conquest per winning game. Skirmishes give 15 per winning game.

It should be more. Gear itself shouldn’t be the main motivator.

People have to have something to blame… so they pick RNG and argue that RNG should have protections against bad luck (which totally invalidates what RNG is since it is no longer random but a fixed game system). I’m sure these people complain about RNG at Vegas (until it’s explained to them that fixing a game is illegal).

Yeah, this is only the first patch, first pvp season and first raid tier of the xpac. You aren’t capped.

+2 gives 200 ilvl loot in vault
Pugging 3 normal bosses gives 200 ilvl in vault
Unrated pvp gives conquest for 200 ilvl reward
Rated pvp gives 200 ilvl in vault

You have had 6 weeks to do these to get your 200+ ilvl. If your behind the curve 190-199 you have less group options for premades (we still have 195 yolo rbgs but they are more rare). If your seriously behind 189- then you have near 0 grouping options till you catchup (of which there are a number of solo and autoqueue methods to do so).

My alt Alliance Priest is 190. Took me a few hours to do the campaign in full, catchup my renown, and upgrade some gear.

190 is very low effort with the insane catchup.

This priest sole reason for existing right now is because I want a specific transmog only he can unlock (mage tower skin tint for 10 RBG wins).

The Irony is that for all the pissing and moaning, SL probably has the best BLP of any expansion; the fact that the vault gives you more and more options based on how much you do is hands down some of the best positive reinforcement you could hope for.

By comparison “F*** yeah azerite power!” was something I routinely bellowed during raids where I watched my fate tokens (of which you could have two maximum for a not inconsiderable fee) were wasted.

Well to be fair no one has any incentive to War Mode.

Anyhow:
World bosses - 207
Conquest Vendor - 200
4x Mythic0 quest - 213
Low level M+ key vault - 203-210ish
Legendary slot - 235
Exalted rep - various 200 slots from each quartermaster

Admittedly not the same level of loot as BFA but you can definitely push into the low 200s

K but this is you right?

They not only managed to make the casual players happy by reducing the difficulty, they also made the hardcore players happy by bringing Twisting Corridors where they can play at a much higher difficulty to feel rewarded for the effort that they put into the game! Tupacskekar 2020

I could link the post you said it in, but what’s the point?

And to expand on this, I got a BiS during 8.0 from my weekly chest that titanforged and while I was happy to have it, I was puzzled by one thing: I didn’t run the dungeon it came from that week. At which point it was revealed to me that the chest was completely and utterly random for what Item it would pop out from a choice of over 100 items.

Like, you get better odds in vegas then that.

I honestly can say this is an opinion that i quintessentially disagree with on so many levels.

  1. Why do you even need max gear if all you do is wq?
  2. Yes, people who do the hardest levels of something should be rewarded for that with things that arent just being given out like candy
  3. If all you do is queue for random bgs, you do not deserve stuff in gladiator rank.
  4. While i try to stay away from time limit exclusivity, hard content should always upscale rewards becuase its the harder content

Saying some alt who just does world quests should get the same gear as people pushing mythics for cutting edge is disgusting and goes against the very core of character progression.

Its just a fundamentally awful opinion.

Yep. It is hands down better than the loot coin system… But you know… give certain people enough time and they will find a reason to argue with you.
Their arguments and Thanos have something in common… they are both Inevitable.

BFA was a odd luck expansion for me…
I decided to tank for my guild and pretty much found myself geared out within 1-2 raid lockouts with zero assistance. Meanwhile my friend spent most of Normal mode… getting no gear from rolls.

Like christ, I describe myself as a potato brain in terms of my ability and I still got my BiS legendary all the way up to 235 and a 202 ILVL.

It would be nice if we could narrow our selection of what appears in our GV loot chest. I had 2 weeks of the same item slot as my legendary item slot. That… was kind of annoying.

Hell, I remember my first picks out of the vault; one was a 200 mystery weapon token and the other was a ring with my best stats so I actually had a hard time figuring out which of these to take.

I believe some potatoes actually have a measurably higher IQ than other potatoes. I read some article about this a few months ago. People study the weirdest… stuff.

You are looking at things very narrowly. If being a hard core elite gives you goose bumps then fine, have fun.

“Hard Content” is relative. Been there done that. Let the activity be it’s own reward.

…good.

I read what they said… and I just can’t honestly believe they said that… while thinking it was a good idea to say that.

If this gives your life meaning to look down on solo players, just remember many of them used to do hard core when “elites” of today were children.

And frankly, the later stuff is nothing compared to original wow. Guilds were different in those days.
