Hi all!
Did a quick scan to see if it had been brought up already and only found one answer in the original May announcement about the question of ‘number of HC servers’ at release. That person stated that there would only be one HC server at release, but it seems to me that there are a ton of people waiting to play the new HC server.
Does anyone else have news about whether or not there will be more than one dedicated HC server on Aug. 24th?

Well every time they talk about it they pluralize it so I would imagine at least two. May be 1 per region?
HC isn’t that popular. I’d be surprised if each region got 2.
However many servers they add, be it 1 or 5 million, there’s only going to be one server
Yes! That’s the fun part - attempting to determine which server that will be before making our characters!

Unpopular opinion but they should only have one server and layer the heck out of it. I love HC and plan to play it for a long time, but I can guarantee you that the drop off on HC is going to be STEEP. Dying can be soul crushing and if you don’t go into it with the right attitude your HC experience is going to be a short one.
Yeah it should just be one server to maximize the number of people in one place. There’s going to be a steep dropoff, no reason to split people up. Just use layering and/or queues if needed to keep things stable at the launch.

Better make a heap of servers and cluster down the line like they did for Era.

From where do you know it will be only one server?
It’ll most likely be one server per region. Two if we are lucky.

Hey wait, bro, listen bro, I’ve got this sick idea, full loot hardcore pvp would be super awesome and fun, trust me.
Those are two separate mechanics.
I know they are different, but layers trigger those dynamic respawn rates. It’s nearly impossible to play on the HC PTR because of this, and I doubt that doubling (1 US + 1 EU), or even tripling (1 US + 1 EU + 1 OCE) the amount of servers will help any.
If you havent accepted layers by 2023, i think you might be a lost cause.
I am. At least I hate them when they are the cause of those infernal dynamic respawns. It is in my opinion not compatible with HC.
Just stay out of the caves for a few weeks after launch.
respawning is half of what makes HC fun. You aren’t a lost cause, you are just not cut out for HC. Its OK tho - from what i hear, you’ll be able to buy twink gear on the AH after your RMT transaction, so high respawn rates should be a breeze for you.
