I’m feeling really bitter about Delves tonight. They were overtuned for solo yesterday, and easy peasy in a group. Today they… suck. They are currently tuned to require you to have better gear to complete them than they offer unless you are one of the special classes/specs. (Or a much better player than I tbf)
Anyway, that got me to thinking about designed for solo content in wow. Cata had the solo quest for the Firelands leggo; Legion had some Order Hall quests and the beloved Tower. Shadowlands had Torghast. MoP had the Proving Grounds. Way back in ancient times Priests & Hunters had tough class quests.
With the sole exception of Torghast, none of those challenges were meant to be repeated. They were difficult, you completed them, you moved on.
Everyone knows the Time/Money/Quality triangle. Solo content has Fun/Challenge/Repeatability.
Torghast before the highest levels was very repeatable. Go in, flounce around, have some fun, leave. Delves are failing me as a mostly solo player because the rewards are set at “repeatable” and the Challenge is set at Mage Tower. And the fun is… well, I gave up on 2 of the 4 today, and I don’t know that I have any interest in going back.
