I’m having a tough time wrapping my head around this design philosophy. The way I see it, if something is ‘endgame’, that makes it implicitly ‘required’ to participate in for those who’re more on the min/maxy side of things. In this context, ‘endgame’ almost certainly means ilvl of the loot, and if it’s comparable to other endgame gear from M+ and mythic raids, that sounds like it’ll be considered pretty ‘required’ by that portion of the community to me. Maybe there’s some angle here that I’m not seeing?
(Side note: I’ve pretty much been a solo player when it comes to max-level content since 8.0, so I personally do like the idea of getting powerful rewards from solo content. I’m just not sure how the devs can say something that seems to me to be an oxymoron lol)

PVP is endgame and you don’t do that. Just think of it like PVP.

It’s the end game for world players, but not raiders or dungeoneers. The ilvl will reflect that. Also, it’s easy to make set bonuses active only in the overworld.

To be fair, PvP has its own progression track where the gear is less useful for things that aren’t pvp.
I don’t think it’s likely they’re going to make a “nerfed in instances” world content set.

What’s that matter? It’s still end game and isn’t required.
And dungeon gear should be stronger in dungeons. No idea why they wouldn’t do that except they ant to cater to the status quo.
By limiting gear to be at heroic raid level max.

The ilvl will only go as high as M+ 10 to 15 or heroic end bosses. Pretty high but not enough to step on the toes of the other pillars. Just enough for great progression for world players but outside the range of mandatory for everyone else.

Because then people would complain about having to carry around six different sets if they want to do multiple kinds of content.

It’s the 4rth pillar;open-world endgame that is optional like M+, raids, ect are for the other three pillars.
They just finally acknowledged in-game a 4rth pillar of players giving them rewards accordingly to how far you advance, and different difficulties.
What she said.

I suspect the complaints from raiders will come about how they feel “required” to do Delves to stay relevant or whatever, as per usual. But I say they can suck it, because it’s about damn time casual players have some form of an end game pillar and we haven’t got one because of said raider complaints. Plus most raiders I know probably aren’t going to care or feel required to do them anyway, so the complainers are probably a minority anyway. Don’t listen to them, Blizzard.

Even gear at m+ 10 would be fine it would give a feeling of progression as a single player. I don’t do dungeons or raids anymore because health reasons ( because i can’t guarantee i make it thru whole run without having to leave ) . That one thing i loved about torghast if i left before finishing it only effect me.

Alright, I didn’t actually consider that ‘endgame’ could mean different things depending on the context, which is kinda dumb on my part.
The ilvl could certainly cap out at a different point too, but I wonder where?
Special set bonuses are another idea, and I’m also left wondering how those would work. Only while solo? Only outdoors? Legacy content is a big part of the game for some players (they’re even kinda like ‘delves’ in a way, just pretty much only for cosmetics), and while it’s usually easier than max-level outdoor content (but not always, particularly for instances where we don’t get the OP buff) I think if there was some kind of set bonus or special outdoor-only effect, it should apply in these instances as well. Particularly if it’s just something like a stat/power buff and not something more applicable to outdoors, like some sort of mount benefit or increased regen out of combat.
They probably just won’t offer the highest levels of gear. However, even if they did they wouldn’t be required. You can get all your gear from Mythic+ and/or Raids and be done with it.
The problem is people equate their own impatience with the speed of acquiring gear with something being required. Delves may give you an opportunity to get a piece of gear a couple weeks earlier but that doesn’t make them required. You could completely skip them and play your own pillar of end game without issues.

Blizzard has already said around Heroic raid level ana M+10-15

Oof, I really didn’t do enough reading. I missed that clarification!
Hopefully delves will be more fun than world quests.
Their current plan is to have Delves cap out at Heroic Raid levels. I don’t know what M+ that is because I don’t do M+.
Possibly. They’ve done that before in the past where set bonuses only work in the outdoor areas. The Covenant gear from SLs I think had such set bonuses.
My guess, however, is you’ll just get non-set gear like M+ and can then just dump it into the Catalyst to convert it to Tier.
Here’s one raider (albeit a Normal/Heroic casual) that is actually interested in Delves. I don’t enjoy M+ at all and view Delves as a fantastic alternative to keep working on my toon’s progress in between raid nights.

Delves are another form of endgame. Like PVP it’s an endgame. Now casuals who enjoy only outdoors activities get their endgame.
