I am trying to finish off the last few achievements to get my Skyscreamer and I just cannot get this one to work solo. I have tried several weeks with my Feathermane slow fall buff and just can’t seem to get the timing right.
Would anyone be able to offer some assistance with this?
I’m not sure you can do it solo. I did it with one other person who just sat down there with the egg while i killed the boss.
You can. It’s just pretty hard and in most cases requires specific classes and specs.
It’s really hard to get the timing to solo it.
If you’re comfortable catching the egg just make a group in the legacy raid finder for doing the achievement soft hands.
Then explain that the other person should stand there doing nothing until you say burn the boss.
Make a macro to call out the burn. Then once you grab the egg mash it.
The boss dies so fast they’ll kill it before you land.
A Demon Hunter catching the egg can safely glide back to the platform.
My only two 120s are Hunter and DK, I have a couple other at 110, but not DH. I have been trying to do it with the Slow Fall buff from Feathermane on my Hunter and I just can’t seem to catch the egg, let alone get the DoT timing right.
Very difficult to solo. But if you list yourself in the legacy raid section of LFG you should find someone who needs it too. That’s how I got it on my DH. You’ll need a macro to help with the timing of the egg, i.e.:
/tar ji
/dbm timer 20 Ovulation
/cast [instant ranged spell]
Use this, jump down onto the egg nest, kill the chicks. The flight buff only lasts 10 seconds, so about 5 seconds before the egg spawns (ovulates), fly up into position. If the egg touches you, you catch it automatically and will see an extra action button in the middle of the screen. You should try this solo until you get the hang of it (you can hearth out or shut down wow to avoid having to kill the boss).
If you’re a DH, you can Glide down to the nest below you. This doesn’t count as a spell, and won’t cause you to drop the egg. When you reach the nest safely, tell your teammates to kill the boss. Normally casting any spell or using abilities while holding the egg will cause you to drop and break it.
If you’re not a DH, you can have a priest Lifegrip (Divine Leap) you to the main platform. Or else you’ll have to throw it to a teammate on the main platform by targeting them and using the extra action button, which you should make a macro for:
/tar [player name]
/click ExtraActionButton1
If you mess up (you probably will) the simplest way to exit the encounter without killing the boss is to hearth out using your Dalaran hearthstone. This is only a 5 sec cast. Your regular hearthstone will probably work too. Then remove your other teammates from the group, which will port them just outside the raid after a minute. Reinvite them. If there’s at least two others, they can summon you back (make sure everyone has Warmode off).
I got the timing down for the catch now with that macro, thanks. I just have to find someone who can kill her once I catch it, preferably with an agro dump to reset the fight if need be.

Ok thanks for clarifying that. So you’ll have to get the target player to stand close to where the egg falls and put a marker on their head, and then quickly throw the egg at where they are standing before you fall too far. The extra action button macro is still useful here.
