So yeah the Soft Foam Sword doesn’t work and I cannot complete quests because of it. If I attack a mob, it will die instantly. Trying to get Loremaster, but not being able to complete quests makes that impossible to do.
Have you stripped yourself of gear? Just arm yourself with the sword and do it naked.

Yeah I still hit them for like 50k damage.

i’m not sure if it will accomplish what you need… i was just trying to think of other possible options while waiting for the foam swords to be fixed.

I was able to complete the quest by kiting the mobs to NPC’s and letting them attack the mob until it was low, but that’s not going to be possible all the time.
When I first used the Foam sword, I didn’t realize that just having it wasn’t enough. I had to click it for it to hit anything. Otherwise, I was just killing them with bare handed strikes.

I just tested the Red Rider Air Rifle in Hyjal on this character. It will aggro but will not damage anything (not even a critter). Hyjal had level 35 mobs for this character.
When I attempted to /use the Soft Foam Sword toy, the mobs in Hyjal were listed as invalid targets. However, it still works correctly on the Aether Rays in Blade’s Edge (just like it did before pre-patch). The mobs in Blade’s Edge are level 30 to this character.
Weird.
So Air Rifle doesn’t work, and the Foam Sword doesn’t work…

Can you just punch them?
Ok, so when you are using the Soft Foam Sword toy, are you dragging the toy icon to your bar and then clicking (or using keybind) from there to /use the Soft Foam Sword? You will need to be in melee range and it takes a few seconds for the cast to go off to do the swing on the mob.
Here is a gif of how it works for me in Blade’s Edge — since level 30 mobs work, but 35 or 40 show as invalid.

What level mobs are you using the Soft Foam Sword on?
Don’t know if it still happens but at one time at least, Will of the Foresaken could proc when using the soft foam sword and kill a mob by itself.
The racial is on a 22 second cool down though so the workaround was to kill something until it proc’d and then to use the sword on your target within the next 22 seconds.

Yes. If the mob isn’t low enough compared to you, it’s not considered “trivial.”
