Soft cap on vers

what would be the percentage, im sitting at 16/8%

From what I knew before, 1% vers=1% more damage flat. and half of that for damage taken reduced. So 16% is 16% more flat damage unless they changed it?

That doesn’t answer the question. They are asking the soft cap, meaning at which % Does it become nearly impossible to increase. Generally soft cap means that the invest it takes to increase is worth less then the return in gains.

But that’s so boring!

Haste makes everything feel more fun. How about double haste and remove versitality?

Fairly confident there is no over all soft cap for any secondary stat.

For specific classes they may be, due to how the stats interact with talents/abilities, but not over all.

I do like haste, but the damage reduction component of versatility is really nice for me.

Who needs damage reduction when you can just heal more with tons of haste?

Am I the only one that misses Multi-strike? :frowning:

Soft cap for what?

A soft cap means, for example, once you have 15% haste your hots gain a full extra tick, and extra haste is useless until you reach the next soft cap (i.e. another extra tick).

It’s not even as easy as that because extra haste is always useful (reduces GCD and cast time for all casted spells) until you reach (probably impossible to reach) the minimum 1 second GCD.

But we say soft cap because once you have the extra tick on your hot it’s better to get more mastery, or whatever.

Versatility, to my knowledge, scales linearly for all classes. Each point of versatility gives a flat % damage done and a flat % reduce damage taken. More = good, always.

Some classes don’t want vers because they get more value from other stats. Some classes don’t get much value from other stats so a bit of flat damage from vers is better.

you also get a heal buff the for the same percent of the damage increase. So for the op they would also get a 16% increase in the amount they heal for no extra mana cost.

Thank you, that actually answers my question and why people are confused. I only ever tank so i always thought soft cap was like a DR

My healers don’t like me because I regularly call them doo-doo faces all the time.

There is no soft cap on versatility, though you may have a class based soft cap.
So, for example, Frost mage will generally stop accumulating crit at 31% because of their interaction with frozen procs.

Furthermore, it depends on your class/spec because not every class is affected the same way by versatility.
Demon hunters have versatility as their third , while Death knights have versatility as their most important stat behind Ilvl.

But it still makes me take just as long to cast my 2 second long heal.

Plus if you innervate yourself or have that one essence that makes your spells free then it’s even better. More hots on everyone faster for free!

That’s rude >:(

Soft cap is usually used in a situation of diminishing returns. The point at which it turns from 1:1 (or better) to less than 1:1 gains. Secondary stats don’t have a diminishing return value these days (at least not that we can reach through any reasonable manner).

10% more haste is 10% more haste, it’s 1:1. 10% more versatility is 10% more damage, it’s 1:1.

Individual classes might have a break point where the stat drops in usefulness because they’ve hit some magic number that makes their rotation suddenly rely on other things, but that’s not a coded soft cap per se.

Well maybe if they weren’t doo-doo faces, I wouldn’t call them doo-doo faces!

I am not a doo-doo face. Maybe you should stop projecting and look in a mirror and then take a bath.

Oh no, you’re not a doo-doo face! It’s only my healers. Unless we have a secret resto druid I don’t know about…

I better not be! You can clearly see my face and there is absolutely no “doo-doo” on it.

I assume they are all Horde?

Resto druids are always a secret. You never know they are there until you get rezed.

A tank? I don’t get more healing out of more haste. But when I have a massive amount of versatility I feel like a goddess.
