I don’t have any proof of this, but after playing each raid tier this expansion, I fully believe that blizzard has either soft capped drops at 2 per week, or it feels like after 2 drops, the chance of getting anything drops off significantly. Currently, the biggest upgrades seems to be the least likely to drop, with the Lure and the Font’s loot tables being extremely rare. I know that gear isn’t guaranteed week to week, but when our guild stacks as many people who can get the Lure as possible, and has healers run specs that can get the Trinkets, its very frustrating when they still do not drop, week after week.
Coins are also not dropping gear anymore like they used to. I feel like Coins are simply there to boost ap, with the very rare chance of getting any kind of gear. On top of that, the loots tables are so large that your chance of getting needed item is extremely rare, and the gear that is dropping is either repeats or not needed gear. It becomes a scarp as it cannot be used or traded.
I feel like blizzards current game design around spreadsheet tuning and micro management in experience and gear is making the game a much less pleasant experience to play, and I feel like the proof is in the drop in subs and lack of Heroic pugs compared to last tier / expansion. With an expansion that is already lacking in overall enjoyment, I find the current design concepts to be extremely frustrating.
Most of this frustration is geared around meeting the already tight dps window for Mythic Ashvane, on a 2 day a week guild.
I’m curious to hear other peoples thoughts.
