SoD worth it at the moment?

Hello everyone,

I’m sure this question has been asked before here on the forums, but I was wondering about your opinions on whether SoD is worth it as of current for someone starting out fresh. This can be relation to any aspect of the game, including pvp, pve, leveling, etc.

I’ve always had somewhat of an interest to jump into it, but never managed to push myself. I’d like to hear what people would have to say regarding if the jump is worth it.

its not worth it. dont fall for the bait

If you are sensitive to large game companies exploiting their player base, you should stay far away from SoD.

it’s a fine novelty but you must go in with the right expectations. think of it as retail alternative content.

Go ask Reddit. This place is so salty that you’ll be dehydrated for months.

Most fun I’ve had in wow in yearsss. I started in phase one and then had to take a break for irl stuff- now back again.

New takes on old classes, some brand new spells, and a few quality of life changes to the classic we all loved. That said, this is a hybrid of classic and later expansions, and it’s been great.

If you hear people complaining about balancing, events, etc., try and ignore it. This season/version literally advertised itself as an experimental, adhoc, no-PTR approach, and people still somehow have the gall to be surprised pikachu face.

Start your new character todayyyy

Well I think leveling 40 to 50 is fun in the incursions – so long as you’re not on a PVP server. And if you get lucky by not getting half your quests bugged out. I like repetitive action for progress.

It’s more enjoyable if you don’t care about being competitive, because only bug exploiters and the top 10% of sweatlords get access to all the expedient power progression before the door is shut on you.

If that doesn’t bother you, you might enjoy it.

Community is also hostile and makes fun of you if you do enjoy parts of SoD. You can never win

Semi-Balanced take:

If you’re looking for the slow grind of the original vanilla, this probably isn’t for you. Several aspects of the game are sped up dramatically for the seasonal nature of it. Leveling, Reputations, almost all of them are pretty sped up.

If you’re looking for the vanilla aesthetic with some massive QoL buffs, and straight character power increases, this’ll be a good spot.

Warning: PvP is very very damag-y. A little bit faster dying than Vanilla or TBC, but a LOT more chaotic, and it seems every class has a stun or a proc stun; so PvP can feel pretty jarring.

Raids are more challenging than vanilla stuff, but nothing like on the order of retail.

Rune quests are hit and miss with being fun or not, but a lot of runes are real game changers, especially for Hybrid classes.

One thing I do, is I just kill mobs next to the nearest graveyard, that way when I get ganked I can just quickly rez. Also Rogue can only fight one mob at a time and you get randomly phased into more mobs and also mobs respawn so fast, I’ve died so much to mobs respawning on top of my head.

Yeah just level next to the graveyard if you play Rogue or Warrior.

Is it ever? Has it ever been worth it/not worth it to jump into any iteration or version of WoW ever?

Same answer.
