SoD Warlock brothers, looking for thoughts/feedback

Hey all,

How do you all feel if Blizz adds a rune that combines Curse of the Elements and Curse of Shadow into one spell (and add nature resist/dmg?) plus additionally allowing the lock to place two curses on a target? I feel this would be a good change so warlocks can use Agony if they want to play affliction.

This would also help if Blizz decides to stick with 10-25 man raids, given there would be less warlocks in a raid theoretically compared to a 40 man to cover all the curses, so hopefully players wouldn’t feel gimped if “their” curse is not up on the boss.

Thanks for reading and any responses!

Let’s just give them an I WIN! button.

loooooooooooooooool

Make a rune with a CD that applies all warlock curses to a target lol.

Warlocks do have a weird dynamic where they can’t parse unless there’s already 3x other warlocks doing CoE/CoS/CoR, because you need agony/doom (and a shadow priest in the raid, which isn’t worth it unless you’re already planning to bring 3+ warlocks, which usually isnt worth it) to hit the highest parses. Nothing really comparable on other classes. Wouldn’t mind if they separated agony from the debuff curses somehow, but it’d be hard to do properly since 2x curses would be horribly broken in pvp (agony +tongues for instance) and warlocks are already the strongest pvp class in classic

We need to be given the best healing spells too. Also, 500% armor is not enough. Add another zero to that and we’ll be in the right ballpark. Also, voidwalker sacrifice should be a pally bubble. But we should still be able to attack.

The new meta in SoD for warlocks will be fire for top dps, i’d almost be willing to say this with 100% certainty if the runes stay as they are.

So with that, curse of elements plus a fire mage will synergize beautifully.

Thanks for pointing that out about pvp. Didn’t think about the pvp side of things all the way through. That does make it tougher to balance. My thought was mainly to help there be multiple optimal options/play styles to dps versus there being just one spec that’s head over heels stronger. It would be nice if they can balance multiple play styles to be fairly close in damage between affliction, shadowbolt, and fire spec.

I think that curses are a good system as is and that Curse of Agony is a luxury afforded after debuff curses have been applied.

Yeah I can see that. Though for affliction to jive a bit nicer in pve I feel like it would be good for agony or maybe one more dot to be in the rotation. Wonder if something like “Agony no longer counts as a curse but while this rune is active agony can no longer be applied to enemy players” would be a good change for separating pve and pvp.

Agree, my opinion is fire for pve dps, demon-aff for pvp, demon-fire for tank. Locks will be glorious.

The only curse related changes id support would be adding nature, holy, and arcane (which honestly might already be on shadows in vanilla, I can’t remember) onto elements or shadows.

Basically we should be buffing everyone with all 3 curses (ele/shadows/reck)

Leave holy out of it. Holy resistance isn’t even a thing and we don’t need to give pallies another damage increase

My guess is that as time goes on and more rune slots become available, new or other dots from expansions come in. Already we see Haunt as an option. Who knows affliction might end up with UA and Malefic as the DPS finisher.
