I always enjoy seeing people who purport to enjoy an rpg be against visual character customization.
I’m dying for them to let us transmog our gear but they seem to be terrified of the people who whine on here. Maybe they’ll let us since they’re not going to get rid of era servers? That would be great.

I enjoy walking into a major hub and being able to see people wear cool gear and instantly know what they are wearing. Not a fan of transmog personally unless its very specific gear sets that is cosmetic only. Something like an uber hard mode challenge

They’ve already tried a toggle and discontinued it because it had issues. They also stated that when the new models arrived it would be incompatible with the older models.
I think they’ll keep us busy enough that we’ll have plenty of stuff do do with pout adding that. Maybe next season.
I like it for down dressing my character to look like a hobo. But that’s not necessary for Classic
I’m down for it… But… It should be done differently…. I want there to be odd little shacks hidden around the world you must find with special currency that can be found in special places to allow the purchase of transmog…

A big no from me. Everyone deserves to look like a hobo while leveling up and working towards great looking loot.

I dislike transmogs.
I like visually seeing the real gear of players

I think a better solution (if transmog isn’t implemented - which I am for it) would be to take the Wrath approach and make offset items look similar to the set item. That way you don’t look like you’re wearing leveling gear while you’re clearing MC/BWL. A lot of that gear that isn’t unique just looks like other items in the game instead of matching the theme of the raid or the gear in the raid. Helm of Endless Rage and Lionheart Helm are the same model with different colors and look odd when you start adding in all the other gear you’d be wearing at the time. It doesn’t look like it has the prestige all the others keep talking about.
Not to mention, this day in age, there is very little “ooohing and awing” since everyone and there mother had it by Classics end really.
SoD might be different since it is a new game. We don’t know how tightly tuned things will be, nor what is BiS gear or the best dps or best whatever, could change each level band.
Edit: If things are more tightly tuned in the beginning for those guilds that are a little more serious, “world first” as much as people may or may not care, might be a thing.
I found out a long time ago that the goal in wow is to make your character look cool with titles, mounts, and gear. Retail corrupted that goal by using “when everyone is super, no one will be” from the Incredibles.
You wanna look cool? You’d better put in the work

I don’t like the idea of transmogging in Classic, but having the toggle on/off option would make it satisfactory at the least.
Might even use it myself if its implemented

I’d like account-wide mounts/pets/transmogs in SoD.
i don’t like tmog either, but not gonna lie those shaman t2? shoulders with the wolves or whatever and the lightning were sick
Level requirements for gear and keeping them character specific is a start
Oh you are grand marshal? Well you better be level 60 with the gear at least
Unironically, I think transmog shouldn’t be added in, but I’ve never understood why armor dyes have never existed. Being able to at least control the color scheme of your gear, without stupid neon colors, makes your gear feel more personal without the abritrary 3d model changes
That’s a no from me, dawg.

In the retail version of the game I absolutely love transmog. When I was active in retail I enjoyed building out a unique appearance for each patch. I’d come up with a theme and then try to build to it using the appearances I had collected, as well as anything I could find online that I might be missing, then I’d go about putting it together for the season. Great fun!
For the Vanilla style game though, I think it’s just too thematic to have your gear reflect your power level. You can usually look at a player and get a feel for how strong they are based on the type of gear they’re wearing and what it looks like. I think that’s something that’s especially important in the PvP side of the game.
It’s for this reason I don’t think transmog really belongs with a Vanilla style game. I know SoD is its own thing but it is branching from Vanilla and not from, say, WotLK. I think it’s important to respect that design intention… at least, for now. I know SoD is going to bring new gear too and so if it turns out that gear’s visuals no longer have a tendency to reflect their power levels, maybe that’s just not something that’s as important anymore.
Until then though, I’d vote for no transmog in SoD. I could get behind some kind of additional bank storage for gear though, so you can at least keep those items around. Then, when you want to look cool, you can just put them on and strut your stuff in town
A dye system like in bg3 would be cool but i dont think they have the tech to do it
At least it would necessitate the creation of many new items with the difference being color only. They could employ this though with say, common armor with a lot of variants already (im thinking of the wooly mail shorts that come in 5 different colors). Or perhaps for tier employ later recolors from tbc. (Purple judgment ftw)
