Ya know… without buying gold:
I’ve loaned out 60 to a guildy for a mount after buying mine (still working on paying me back turns out he’s a distracted type)
Bought a pre-bis OH Mace for 99 gold (Not happy about it, but the dagger offhand just isn’t doing it for Lavalash in raid and PvP)
And wasted little amounts of gold buying mats to fill out boxes,
Bought materials to make raid consumes,
Got both LW and Blacksmithing up, and Alchemy on an alt,
Summons/ports when I’m in a hurry, etc… and
I’m still sitting on about 80 gold, and I still have south STV quests, Arathi elite quests… etc.
I’m not hurting on gold in the slightest, and didn’t buy gold or do any GDKPs
TL:DR, plenty of legit gold to be had, you’re just gonna have to leave Org/Booty Bay to get it
How do you differentiate between a swiper and someone having an off day? Or a pampered alt from their guild who is learning their class still? Or someone with a genuine handicap that enjoys the game still? What about those who perform well and don’t have the time to devote to playing the game more than a few hours on the weekend?
The problem is that you can’t tell, anymore than you can tell what’s going on in anyone else’s head but your own. If you want to reduce gold buying then you need to take away the reasons would rather swipe to win rather than actually play the game.
You guys are ridiculous. You are meant to earn the gold by grinding and participating in your server economy. It’s like you guys don’t know how to play without either buying gold or siphoning bought gold.

Hmm it is never good to assume. I have farmed and got around 550g so far. Got the cat mount from STV by playing the game … no gold sink or time gated sh*t. But I will never pay for some inflated crafting recipe just for the sake of spending gold so I can go farm some more just because …

When I log on as speratic as everyone else I know on wow. You can tell people’s schedules are thru a loop…
There is no more 9-5 jobs for all people. We live in a 24 hr world. Which means 24 hr schedules…some people work 4 hrs. Some 8. Some 10. Some 12. Some entire 24 hour periods at a time.
I don’t expect you to know these things. Why because the majority of humans have their head so far up their or someone else’s rear to know which way is up normally.
Even when I had a 9-5 job. It wasn’t the easiest thing to be raid scheduled to whatever day/time my guild preferred to raid at. Especially being someone that lives in pst and has to raid with players on a east coast realm…
If servers were fuller on different time zones then it would have been easier.
So to claim I can’t understand what others play styles are like is simply incorrect…after almost two decades on this game and playing every style of it that has came out. The way I observe things and remember then instantly. I probably understand the play habits of these people better than blizzard does sadly.

This has always been the case. Moreso now that you can also play with people around the world, so in different time zones. This is also irrelevant. You can work a traditional 8 hour work day and be home within a half hour, but you also can have non-work related commitments such as family, a social life, household responsibilities, a second job, and similar.
My point is you cannot tell from a single brief interaction if someone is ‘underperforming’ because they’re lazy or if there is some other reason. If you can, might I suggest you provide me this week’s winning lotto numbers?

You definitely still can, that is the whole point of this post, are you blind? Most classes utilize a lot of BOEs for BIS and yes, people are definitely RMTing for epic crafts. I saw a rogue with 2 crafted epics and Gut Ripper (400g at AH) on him week 2. Asked him about it, he pretended they exploited a rare spawn in Gnomer for the encrusted drops day 1 spawning it over and over, and got Gut from the same mob. I obviously didn’t believed him…

The super annoying ppl who sell summons? Yeah a few of them have shared their gold. At the end of p1 many of them had over 7k gold. Just selling summons.

I mean the real problem is the fact that they banned it too late. There are players walking around with tens of thousands of gold on my server (Crusader Strike) and they are inflating the prices of everything. The poor players who have just done raiding the normal way are priced out of a lot of things. And good luck questing in the open world without getting corpse camped. Even if you can complete all of the quests on a character at level 40 after grinding up in stockades and SM, there’s only a couple hundred gold to be made. None of this would be a problem if GDKPs were banned from the get-go. But they weren’t, and that dirty gold is still in the economy.
