SoD multitagging QoL

So I dived into HC classic for a bit and the mob tagging actually makes me not want to play. Wondering if retail version of tagging is going to be in SoD.

Can you explain the difference with tagging in retail for us Era only players

Retail basically lets everyone tag mobs without being a group.

Who gets the loot?

Everyone gets loot.

Do you have to do a set amount of dmg? or can i hit it for like 1% and get full loot?

There are rules to mob tagging in retail of which I dont know by memory, I just know its superior to classic and I want it in SoD.

in retail you can hit the mob for 1 hp if it has 1billion hp and get loot… i dont really like mob sharing to be honest… but it was to try and help with quest bottle necks because people wouldnt group up… so essentially youre grouped with everyone in the area youre in and loot is personal… another thing i hate about retail

Is it better? Having no reason to ever group with people for quests is an improvement? Seems rather anti-Vanilla to me.

Suck it up and ask to form a group.

Mob tagging is a nuisance I’ll agree with that, but it’s not going to be a problem in SoD. People (mostly streamers) are doing it to power level in Hardcore because they know if they actually play the game they’d all die before level 20. With SoD’s level caps (and no threat of losing your character) there’s literally 0 reasons to speedrun.

lol they copy pasted retail abilities to vanilla. SoD is by far the most anti-vanilla classic has ever been.

And this continues to be an utterly ridiculous take.

Almost every ability classes have in Vanilla they still have in Retail. Oh no, mages are casting Frostbolt. Guess that makes it Retail!

Slippery slope is not a myth.

Retail mob tagging just brings more bots… Check out videos of retail on the Chicken Hordes starfalling mass areas together…

I see the benefits of Retail’s tagging system but I also can just see it devolving into a meta of abusing hyperspawns with a bunch of ungrouped people to powerlevel/farm mats. I think of those groups in BfA that sat in one spot farming thousands of mobs every hour for BoE epics. I’d much rather fight for tags than deal with that.

The point of mob tags is for you to be social. If someone is killing mobs in an area that you have a kill 10 Kobolds or w/e, it behooves you to group up with them. Right click on their portrait and they will likely accept. If they deny, move on with your day. Probably something with botting too.

Definitely not.

There needs to be somethings that remain true to classic.

Systems being one of them.

When respawns were really slow and you’d have 10 people queued up for one quest mob then multi-tagging was a good thing. There’s a few spots in vanilla where it would be ok - but mostly with fast respawns it is totally unnecessary. And in vanilla if there’s a queue of 10 people we usually group - a very non-retail activity.

Tagging mobs is only an issue on a fresh server under level 20. Even then it’s such a minor inconvenience.

If that’s enough to make you not play… well it is what it is. Find a group, don’t change tagging.
