SOD may not be for you if

  • You don’t want to experience wild swings in class power due to buffs/nerfs happening frequently.

  • You don’t like the idea of grinding out 20 of this over on the opposite faction’s map, 20 of this also in the opposing faction’s map, oh and that’s right, another 20 item grind for your required mats somehwhere in the world to…play your class!!!..oh, and lets add faction imbalance to go with that…awesome foresight on this idea I must say.

  • You don’t like bots ruining the economy. It is obvious they arent doing anything about this. You need to figure out a way to overcome this or just sit around for a few extra hours to get what ya need done. They need every penny from every sub, even to the detriment of their game apparently.

  • You don’t like unbalanced world PvP. I could write a whole thread about ashenvale and how diappointing the implementation was, but yeah…moving on.

  • You don’t like raiding to get your talents. You won’t be able to get all your runes…oh wait, they changed that…but yeah, others still have to grind mobs for…talents. lmao.

  • You don’t like getting stomped by premades in BGs. And anyone replying on here that all you have to do is to create your own premade is wrong. I want to be able to queue when I log on and have a fair match. Not wait around for an hour trying to create the perfect comp.

I could add more, but this isn’t Season of Dads by any stretch. That’s a good laugh. This is turning into a battle of the sweats…who wants to grind and spend all their time prepping before actually playing their class? Who wants to sit on disc for an hour preppimg before you actually queue up a game? It is becoming very apparent this game is not for me and probably a lot of other dads. I dont want to spend half my time organizong or doing unfun stuff to get to the fun stuff.

Implementation could have been so much more fun. Make the runes easier to obtain…make the forced pvp interation happen for gold rewards? rep to unlock some kind of mount? etc etc. Locking fun required new talents/skills behind unfun grinds or stuff like raiding, or anything that involves a good amount of time or effort doesnt make sense to me. It is fine if you like it, this thread isnt for you then.

The recipe in classic was to just buy it from a trainer. Now it is locked behind something.

Season of Dads? Lmao no. More like Season of Streamers, or Season of Sweats, or Season of Gatekeeping…im out, no you cant have my gold. This is their beta and you guys are paying to participate. Ill come back when its really Dad friendly instead of streamer, or sweat friendly.

For a moment there I thought this was going to be a positive post about how SoD is great for the people that want that specific flavor, but then it turned into a whine post. Not that some of the things aren’t legit (i.e. Bots)

I do however feel that WoW has been a victim of its own success. Initially it attracted MMO players and the type of people who wanted to play that specific game. But then word got around that it was ‘a good game’. This meant to most people that if lots of other people liked it, they should like it too. Which is a fallacy. Nonetheless, this lead to years of disappointment, forum rants, and eventually a bunch of little ‘quality of life fixes’ that turned the game into something that the original enjoyers never wanted to play.

I see SoD going the same way. There are loads of people having a blast with it. Is it perfect? Not at all. Could it do with some changes? Probably yeah, and those will happen as the relatively tiny dev team manages to be incredibly responsive and focused.

But the real problem with it isn’t the little bits of jank here and there, it’s the massive number of players who feel that they SHOULD like the game because it’s popular. The problem obviously can’t possibly be with them for playing something that’s just not their thing… no no… the problem MUST be with the whole game.

So do like what a lot of us did who stopped enjoying retail, we stopped playing it and stopped paying for it. That’s how you vote.

And if it’s not that bad that you want to actually still keep playing, then offer some constructive and decently mannered feedback in a professional tone and work with people to make it better instead of posting like a petulant teenager.

Alternatively.
You may not like sod if you don’t like classic.

Or if you don’t like stuff added to classic.

At first I thought this was going to be a legitimate list of reasons you may not like SOD.

then it just turned into another whining and complaint post.

Funny because they have banned thousands already

Everyone has an opinion and likes or dislikes for various reasons. Thats how humans are. However i never resorted to insulting anyone other than the developers…mildly…which i feel is justified because they advertised this as Season of Dads. Im not an employee beta tester, im a paying customer. “Season of dads” implies to me being more conscious of our time spent since “dad” implies we cant be sweaty or spend the same amount of time as a streamer…

The level caps are great in that respect. I really thought all aspects of the core leveling would follow suit. But they keep trying to lock things behind a long drawn out grind…or some longer path…in classic, you could level all the way to 60 in bgs and acquire your skills from a single npc…thats fun. Having options is fun. Locking class talents behind this or that instead of having options isnt fun for me. I guess i prefer classic and am outdated. Such is life. Go get to grinding and enjoy it. I dont.

Saying I whine like a petulant teenager is really ironic. Because name calling, insulting, or trying to bully someone to fall in line with your thinking is truly characteristic of a petulant teenager.

Regardless, im pissed this was sold as for “DADS”. So if im not so forgiving because i have hours of GRINDING to do, to play my new talent, it means their advertising was grossly wrong. Since when is adding grinds friendly to those with limited time? Im not asking for epic gear to be handed to me. Im asking to be able to play my darn talents ffs without spending hours chasing quests around the world. Options are always fun to have. Pigeon holing me into what you want me to do to acquire a core talent is not fun.

Im not giving anymore criticism of the game. Im not a paid employee doing beta testing for blizz. I dont need to be super professional and dot my i’s and cross my t’s. Im just a random sub that just realized this isnt a version i want to play. Im a customer. I dont work for blizz. You crack me up…“be more professional” lmao. I do that all day, im a dad. This is a game they are failing to sell to me because of the points i made in my first post. They deserve whining and complaining if they advertise as one thing and deliver another.

You can pretend to be an employee and lick the boots, but i am a customer. Well, at least for a few more weeks. Ta ta bully boy…

Only one class gets this experience.

Not true. Didnt druid just get a significant buff? Its going to keep happening during this beta.

Druids had viable specs the entire time. Hunters got their entire rune set nerfed and their base set. They’re playing era characters now.

“I hate when they try and balance the game, while I also complain about the game not being balanced.”

This was already in the game in classic in one way or another, nothing in here is inherently unique to SoD but is common in the genre all around. You may just not like MMO design.

They do actively go after botting. Saying otherwise is ill-informed and a sign of just wanting to complain. They are 100% fighting an uphill battle but they are doing things to push back against botting and RMT.

It’s level 25. The game in classic was never balanced especially at low levels. This is legit not a real issue. Open world or instanced, classic PVP was not balanced.

This is just you not wanting to put effort into obtaining things.

This is not some new issue SoD created. Making a premade or joining one is the actual answer, if you are only doing BG’s solo you accept the risk of losing to a premade.

“I dislike putting even the smallest effort into anything so I act like the game is bad when the case is actually me trying to enjoy a game type that I clearly don’t.”

It’s more dad friendly than basic classic is. You are just lazy and had false expectations you can only blame on yourself.

4/10 troll thread. You only get a 4 because you actually used paragraphs.

SoD is confirmed dumpster-fire gimmick to maintain zoomer subs until cata. Come to grobbulus wotlk and join the fun of organic horde vs alliance wpvp. We love WoW and we love killing the enemy! Forget new Blizz’s pathetic attempts to sh*t on the legacy of the game. Forget unfulfilling PvE with the neverending gear treadmill. Embrace the war in warcraft. RP a little. The players and our battles are much better content than scripted PvE could ever offer.

“But pvp is scripted herp derp shadowmourne warrior/valanyr hpal.”
Not talking about arena.

It was billed as Season of Discovery. The community added the ‘Season of Dads’ thing. That said, they did make some concessions to reign in the sweatiest of players with the level caps, but they still have to offer content for the people that can play more often.

A lot of people are missing the fact that currently, Classic WoW really isn’t a big focus for Blizzard. They’ve assigned a small team of pretty passionate devs and all in all, most people seem to feel they’re doing a phenomenal job with the resources they have.

Another thing that people are missing is that this is really more of an experiment/POC for Classic Plus or to get an idea of where they can go with this. What works and what doesn’t. They need to make mistakes during this process. Along with Classic WoW and all of its jankiness, this is what we signed up for. There was no PTR for this. It’s fresh, it’s got some rough edges and it’s a work in progress.

To a lot of people, those things are the attraction. I like the experiment. I play a hunter and I’m fine with the nerfs. If something doesn’t work for me, I try to find another way around it or go do something else. That’s the spirit of SoD. Experiment and Discover.

If that’s not your thing or you signed up expecting something different, retail’s still there, Era is still there, other video games are still there. There’s no reason for you to sticking around playing it if it’s not providing value to you.

If it’s still intriguing, keep an eye on it. Maybe check things out next season.

Thats not the point. The point is this constant balancing is going to be happening throughout the entire season at each cap etc. If someone wants to help a company whose made a ridiculous amount of money bang their heads against a wall trying to beta test for them, go have fun…but im sure they could afford a QA team that actually plays the game…and have meetings amongst everyone to keep in line with the scope of the project. Not call it a season for people w limited time and then lock their skills behind a bunch of grinds.

If they sell this as season of dads but forget the core tenets of what being a dad means, in this case it means having limited time, not rushing, playing the game to have fun, not chores to do, then why are the developers gatekeeping skills behind grinds? Yeah i wanna get blasted and have no chance to fight off someone who already obtained their talents while im working on mine? Huh…i dont understand this logic. Either the developers forgot the supposed target audience or they are just rehashing something thwy did before with little thought.

Again, they never sold it as “Season of Dads”

“I hate when they try and balance the game, while I also complain about the game not being balanced.

no, it is evident they did little, very little review of the skills at different levels. which is why Starsurge hit like a feather until its 170 percent boost or so…you are simply trying to discredit everything i said. seems obvious…on to the next one…

This was already in the game in classic in one way or another, nothing in here is inherently unique to SoD but is common in the genre all around. You may just not like MMO design.

grinding mobs for talent skills was never in classic. next…

They do actively go after botting. Saying otherwise is ill-informed and a sign of just wanting to complain. They are 100% fighting an uphill battle but they are doing things to push back against botting and RMT.

smalll indie company cant catch all the botters. its too hard. k. next…

It’s level 25. The game in classic was never balanced especially at low levels. This is legit not a real issue. Open world or instanced, classic PVP was not balanced.

I’m not talking about class balance in pvp. I’m talking about server issues. Balance with factions…next…

This is just you not wanting to put effort into obtaining things.

It isnt that i dont want to put effort into getting things, i dont want to put effort into getting my freaking talents to play my class. Obviously if I played this game I understand effort is a requirement. Nice generalization there. next…

This is not some new issue SoD created. Making a premade or joining one is the actual answer, if you are only doing BG’s solo you accept the risk of losing to a premade

the answer is limited to spending time trying to group up with randoms to fight against streamer premades that have been playing with each other for years? AHAHAHAHAhahahahaha. k. Very shortsighted answer. next…

I dislike putting even the smallest effort into anything so I act like the game is bad when the case is actually me trying to enjoy a game type that I clearly don’t.”

if the requirement to pvp is to sit in disc for an hour to find the right comp to have a chance against all the sweats and streamers currently, then yeah, count me out of this game. I have zero desire anymore to fight against no-lifers who spend more time in game than outside the game. And if blizz cant introduce something as simple as rando vs rando, then yeah, it adds to me moving on. not gonna lie.

It’s more dad friendly than basic classic is. You are just lazy and had false expectations you can only blame on yourself.

after spending the entire post telling me how i dont want to put in effort to grind for talents (not in classic), spend lots time forming premades that cant compete with streamers and sweats (streamers didnt exist in these numbers previously), you say that its more dad friendly than ever before? who are you kidding?

Sod isnt for hunters.

We are playing classic era now.

They’re still really good compared to having zero runes and being back in Era. It’s level 25, just focus on the small things and don’t worry about class balance, the devs back in original Vanilla didn’t lmao.
