SoD is starting to feel like Retail

Sod was fun Phase 1, Phase 2 the raid was really yucky, now in Phase 3 we got Incursions, STV PVP, and nobody is out grinding dungeons. Its the endless loop of MIN MAXing the fastest way possible. I just don’t get why people think playing the game that way is fun.

I love the new abilities being injected into all the classes new raids is a really cool idea (except why Gnomer?); however the other stuff is taking away from why I liked SoD. Its starting to feel like its not for me.

That’s ok but it makes me sad. Its just training wheels to get you to buy the new expansion and get back into retail.

People keep saying this, but Mara, BRD and ZF are all grinded.

To the point that it’s a battleground outside the instance.

They are grinding 1 Boss, MIN MAXing.

Mara princess runs were a thing before SoD. It was a thing in 2005.

Other than that, people are grinding dungeons.

I agree with incursions. No one really asked for it, and its basically made it way harder forming lower level dungeons. No one is really questing above level 25 or running dungeons, at least in my experience.

If they wanted levelling to be faster they could have just kept the exp buff until level 50 without adding retail gimmick levelling catchups

You’re not wrong at all, but you could still find a group that wanted to do it all. That part is not happening now.

Heh people are running more dungeons for gear this phase than last phase.

I have a feeling that you are not mistaken. Classic and particularly SOD feels like a way for Blizzard to ease us into retail. Unfortunately, for most of us old timers, wow jumped the shark sometime around cata. I have tried retail and all it did was make me feel old. Like my old man trying to get the VHS player to work…. It just ain’t happening.

Give it up for gramps Blizz

I donno. Played some of dragonflight and this feels nothing like retail. Don’t see the similarities

Its just grind Princess, or BRD and ZF for Wild Offerings killing the easiest bosses as fast as possible, skip all the trash you can. Gone are the days of just being stupid with some friends in Vent, Teamspeak, or now discord. ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM everyone its a job.

Incurions feel like retail world quests zooming you to max level

Not exactly but if feels like it is trending in that direction. Is Bobby back in the office hiding somewhere?

Does it feel more like classic or retail. I feel like it feels like vanilla to be honest, but I definitely appreciate what the OP is saying.

But yes. It is not a perfect mirror of retail. Merely a hybridization. The intentions of which is a subject of interest for me.

You can’t do a full BRD now. They have it partially locked down. Mara was very very rarely a full clear. ZF people are doing full runs because I’m seeing people wearing loot off bosses people don’t do for offerings.

I know that, But you can do alot of it. All anyone is doing is Arena spams, Skipping Roccor, The Houndmaster, the Inquisitor lady, heck they are not even going up to Pyromancer. The only reason they kill bosses other than arena is 2 exta for the wild offering.

Phase 3 killed the open world. There’s no reason to be outside of an instance.

The most fun I had in there was making a run to the Bar for a quest I wasn’t even on. Was challenging and different.

I literally spammed BRD last night. We did arena, Inquisitor lady, Pyromancer. Roccor doesn’t drop some items so we didn’t need to do him.

We got shaman boots countless times.

yup, it’s officially retail now with dual spec + muh incursions :expressionless: no one can deny it

Agreed.

The XP increase, does seem like they are funneling players more quickly to max-level. Incursions give repeatable, farmable max-level content which gives options for those who want to grind rep/gold but also want to maintain dual crafting professions, regardless of class or spec.

You can gain honor and rep through multiple paths now, including BGs, WPVP, STV, and the Ashenvale event.

I actually really like the STV Bloodmoon event, and think that that, and perhaps the level cap phases are some of the best parts of SoD. A lot of the rest of the stuff seems very frivolous, but it is a seasonal server, so while I’m enjoying it a lot, I also feel somewhat wrong for doing so!
