In Season of Discovery, equipping the Advanced Warding rune overrides the Improved Mana Shield talent instead of stacking.
Expected Behavior:
- Without either the talent or the rune, Mana Shield drains 2.0 mana per damage absorbed.
- With 2/2 Improved Mana Shield alone, Mana Shield drains 1.6 mana per damage absorbed.
- With Advanced Warding alone, Mana Shield drains 1.0 mana per damage absorbed.
- With both 2/2 Improved Mana Shield and Advanced Warding, Mana Shield drains 0.6 mana per damage absorbed.
Actual Behavior:
- With both 2/2 Improved Mana Shield and Advanced Warding, Mana Shield drains 1.0 mana per damage absorbed.
Equipping and unequipping the rune, swapping between dual specs, or resetting talents does not change the observed behavior.
This has unfortunate ramifications for the upcoming Enigma Moment AQ set, dramatically reducing the usefulness of the 4pc by increasing the effective mana cost of Mana Shield by hundreds of mana.

I’m not experiencing this.
I have Mana Shield up and take 149 damage, I go from 4653 to 4355 mana (-298 mana. Lines up with 149 * 1)
I have Mana Shield up and Advanced Warding and take 149 damage, I go from 4653 to 4503 mana (-150 mana. Lines up with 149 * 1 (off by 1))
I have Mana Shield up, Advanced Warding, and 2/2 Improved Mana Shield and take 149 damage, I go from 4653 to 4503 mana (-120 mana. Lines up with 149 * 0.8).
So these stack by halving the cost from 2.0 to 1.0. Then giving a 20% reduction from there in cost from damage sustained.
Do you have anything you can share that shows this happening?

I’d tested in RFC and at the time I was fairly certain the damage I was taking and the mana I was losing were identical. Testing again now I’m seeing the behavior you’re describing, so if that’s the intended behavior it’s working (although the tooltip doesn’t reflect that, even though it is correct for having the talent or the rune individually).
