[SoD] Hunter Mega-Thread

This is a non-exhaustive list of bugs related to Hunters in SoD that I’ve personally encountered.

  1. [Pet Ability] Screech:
  • Issue: Consumes “Kill Command” (KC) procs but does not result in the expected increase in damage.
  • Additional Information: Screech can critically hit, however, it does not benefit from “Cobra Strikes” procs and, conversely, does not consume Cobra Strikes proc.
  1. [Pet Ability] Furious Howl:
  • Issue: Currently, it only guarantees a buff to auto attack damage. Despite being consumed on many special attacks, it does not confer any benefits to the hunter or their pet.
  • Expected Behavior: The ability should apply its effects on all special attacks (e.g., Bite, Claw, CARVE, Arcane Shot, etc.) and should consistently work 100% of the time on these abilities while the buff is active.
  1. [Rune] Carve:
  • Issue: Does not benefit from character stats. It only crits based on the player’s crit percentage and scales with the weapon’s stated damage.
  • Related Incident: Similar issue previously observed with “Flanking Strike,” which was hotfixed on December 12th. Carve requires a similar patch.
  1. [Runes] Chimera Shot and Serpent Spread:
  • Issue: The Serpent Sting effect, triggered from Multi-Shot when using the Serpent Spread rune, does not activate the secondary effect of Chimera Shot.
  1. [General Note]: Pet abilities such as the Wolf’s Furious Howl and the Boar’s Charge should be scaled when using the Beast Mastery (BM) rune. Without this scaling, it limits the viability of certain pet options in BM builds.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. For each listed ability/rune, engage in combat scenarios where the ability/rune is expected to trigger or have an effect.
  2. Observe the lack of expected impact or functionality as described in the issues above.

Expected Result:

  • Abilities and runes should function as intended, providing buffs and effects consistent with their descriptions and expected behavior.

Actual Result:

  • Abilities and runes are not functioning as expected, leading to reduced effectiveness and limiting strategic options in gameplay.

Please reply with other known bugs you’ve encountered, it will help keep this thread alive and increase visibility.

I hope blizzard looks into these soon.

Another bug:

When Claw or Bite specifically is attempted to be used on ANY PvP flagged target (eg., Player, NPC, Friendly or Enemy) you are instantly flagged for PvP. Even on targets that you can’t attack or on attackable enemies (before your pet has entered combat or even left your side). If you use keybinds like Scroll Up to control your pet this can lead to enemy guards attacking you just for interacting with a friendly vendor.

Obviously only harmful actions towards player controlled characters or NPCs should have the potential to flag you. This is akin to Aimed Shot flagging you vs a player before the cast has even gone off. Worse, it’s like Aimed Shot flagging you for pressing it while targeting a party member.

[Rune] Chimera Shot:

  • Issue: The secondary effect of Chimera Shot is supposed to deal 40% of Serpent Sting’s total damage instantly. This is only working off of tooltip damage. Increasing Serpent Stings damage as high as 70 with Nature Damage/ Spell Power gear has a 0% increase in Chimera Shot’s secondary effect. There’s no way to scale this with gear and baseline it’s token damage. The only increase in damage out of it was with Lone Wolf and it was laughable as expected.

Heart of the Lion:

It will not register on any of my chest pieces. Suddenly stopped working. I change gear, turn add-ons off and on, rune swap, etc. Nothing will get it to work. Super frustrating

Hopefully they can fix all those without breaking Era.
