SoD Hunter changes please

Real simple.

  1. remove dead zone
    Reason: its a bad mechanic all around and silly that we are the only class in the game that can literally be 100% shut down in pve and pvp.

  2. increase pet stable slots
    Reason: so I dont have to abandon rare and cool pets that took time and effort to hunt and tame just so I can rank my pets skills up.

You’re also the only class in SoD that is great at range and in melee, without swapping spec…

On #1 you would have to give up the ability to shoot while running in exchange.

I’m assuming you mean the ability shots like Arcane, Stings, Concussive etc.

No you cannot melee well as MM, and you can do OK at best as BM in ranged. To really perform in melee or ranged you need to specialize.

Just silly that you can shut down ALL damage without any abilities or cc…just the rifht distance. Super easy without an addon and brain dead easy with one.

How does being able to shoot sub 8yards affect anything? All other ranged can do their abilitis from 0 to 30-40ish yards. Why must we have a dead zone? Doesnt improve our dps just means for fights like shade or the final boss in BFD where they have HUGE hit boxes in a small place that we are 100% out of luck in so many places.

If its pvp…well again other ranged can do everything at 0+ yards…

You can do ranged infinitely better than warriors, rogues, and MUCH better then Enhancement Shamans and Paladins…

Other ranged typically can’t move while they’re doing it, or have 1-2 instant cast abilities

And mages, Priests, EleShamsn, and Warlocks are all VERY screwed when engaged in melee.

SoD Hunters are not.

We also cant tank or heal… and when we are melee our ranged damage is bad and when we are ranged our melee damage is bad.

I can cast a ZERO direct damage dot, a slow and a 6 sec CD spell on the go. Other ranged have tons of instant cast abilities they can do on the go.

As for engaging with melee in melee spec we cant go head to head with ANY melee…and as ranged only if the trap doesnt resist or they break the trap or miss the trap can we do anything. Even then gap closers are way better off than gap creators are…and we have ZERO defensives and heals. Again taking a dead zone away affects nothing but a QoL for ranged hunters.

Problem is as a MM ranged hunter once melee get on me, and they most likely will…there is literally nothing damage wise I can do thats worth the effort. All I can do is hope that I can wing clip and survive for either a teamate to bail me out or to create a gap. As melee I have to try and kit other melee otherwise its GG.

Nobody else has an unstoppable pet with a healthpool bigger than their own.

Don’t forget your mana drain
(And if you forgo the superpet, you get explosive shot or Chimera shot)

You have 30%+ dodge with a rune, up to 40%+ with Monkey…The only ones that have a prayer are maybe warriors if they can kill you with Overpower.

I almost killed a PvP/Raid geared level 50 rogue with my level 46 melee BM hunter in level 40 green. (He was at 5% when I died, and I only died first because almost all of his landing hits were crits due to level diff.)

If we were same level and gear, I would’ve smote him without a contest.

Or concussive shot
Or Disorienting shot if you went MM
and Wingclip is still a thing.

(And just be better with your trap in the first place)

No heals (Same amount as Warriors and Rogues)… just a budget Evasion with 100% uptime and bunch of CCs…and a PET.

I feel like you don’t actually PvP too awful much since hunters have kit to deal with just about anyone and them- and you’re mad about the one weakness you have. (And hell, your pet can attack in that zone… lol)

Pets arent unstoppable and dont do as much as P1. Youre living in the scorpid a d WS P1 past…

You have to be melee to get that level of dodge and even then you cant go toe to toe with other melee for very long. Killing a rogue that was likely caught off guard or was bad doesnt mean squat. An equal skilled rogue will use a ranged hunter for TP 9/10 times…they are one of our counters.

I already mentions the slow and its scatter shot and yes wing clip is a thing but its not as great as you think. I can conc shot and trap a good melee and still they are getting to me. Once on me wing clip wont creat a gap as Im slowed by them now so we dance together at the same speed…

Rogues have the best CC, gap closers, mitigations and legit outs. Warriors have very good mitigations and great gap closers.

Look bud your grasping at straws here. Losing the dead zone means I stand a chance against a rogue glued to me and CCing me to death…it means I can dps that boss with a huge hit box instead of doing nothing and wasting a raid spot. Its not like asking for rogue level CC or hybrid heals or rogue/ warrior mitigations. Im literally asking to do what ALL OTHER ranged can do when they have the same basic utilitues as I do.

No cata was the first time I quit the game for a period of time. Im happy as a pig in mud, just want 2 QoL changes for my main…not like Im asking to dominate dps cause thats not what dead zone elimination does…

Its called a dead zone for a reason…cant melee or do ranged and if in melee range yes as a ranged hunter I cant do much. But not once did I say helpless…rather its be nice to do damage to bosses and mobs in tight spaces instead of just standing there or doing crap melee damage…
