SoD Function Keys

I have an Acer Nitro AN515-55 laptop and do not have this issue in the retail game. I started playing SoD again today and found that trying to self target with F1 puts my laptop in sleep mode. Changing the function key setting in Bios or holding down the FN key doesn’t change it, it always goes into sleep mode. I don’t know why this doesn’t happen in retail but it does in SoD. Has anyone run into this and have a solution?

I found this post but it didn’t have any solutions. Help - F1 Key shutting down classic Warcraft on Windows 10

WoW doesn’t control this. The BIOS setting is the only thing that affects this, and if trying to change that didn’t help, you probably didn’t make the change correctly. (For instance, not saving-and-exiting the BIOS change).

  1. 1. Modify Power Button Settings:
  • Press the Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type powercfg.cpl and press Enter.
  • Select Choose what the power buttons do on the left menu.
  • Under When I press the sleep button, set it to Do nothing to disable the sleep function of the F1 key.
  • Save the changes.

It’s not user error in this case, I went back in and changed it again to try each setting (switching back and forth between media and function keys), and selected save changes on exit.

Kozzae, it won’t let me comment again so I’ll try to edit here: That fixed self targeting, thank you! The F2, 3, and 4 keys are still stuck on web, mail, and calculator, but I won’t be grouping in any serious way in SoD so this is good enough! Thank you!
