It’s no secret that blizzard loves bots and is egging on the use of bots to casual players, whether they want to use them or not. But why not give a little love to the players who actually want to play the game and for that matter, their professions? There are some easy solutions that will let blizzard keep their precious bots, while still not forcing the real players to leave from inability to fully enjoy the game.
Solution Numeral Uno: Unlock the ability for everyone to jump layers, using a drop down menu and add up to 50 extra layers. That way no matter how many bots are on, there will always be a free layer to gather your own profession mats or get the recipe that takes 5 hours to respawn and people who want to play/quest alone would also benefit from it.
Solution Number Two: Make all high value veins, flowers and finite recipes infinitely respawn. Crash this silly one-sided market you’re forcing the rest of us into, alot of us would like to gather our own mats and not spend 60-100+ gold just for a single mat (I’m looking at you Arcanite Bars). Blizzard wouldn’t even have to restart the servers for a change that painlessly easy. Also for those that would say they’d just sit on one mine and never get up, they’ll get up. you only have so much inventory space on a toon and they’ll have to empty their pockets at some point.
Solution Numeral 3 or whatever: Just shove all known/flagged and reported bots in a special bot only layer of a server. If a real player gets stuck in there, they can just support ticket out of it. Should be pretty easy to tell if they’re a bot by looking at their account activity log (bots don’t need sleep or a break).
What other solutions would y’all have for dealing with the bot problem, without banning them?
These are appallingly bad ideas. Joke post?

A better solution:
Add a 2 hour timer daily, non additive; maxes at 2 hours, for an in-game built in bot.
Tl;DR
add an in-game bot feature that runs two hours each day.
How about they just require a captcha to loot any mob or pick any resource?

The SAME bots i’ve had on my friend list and reported a billion times since phase 1 are STILL in game, running around botting.
Blizzard is a joke.
You’re all paying money to support this garbage.

Players could try reporting the bot posts i mean the names are there for anyone to see I am pretty sure the Botting Bots just mail their botted mats to a bank that posts 20+ full stacks everyday if you have a farm i would suggest looking through that stack on AH some stacks only have like 3 names with 90% or more of the supply. Record the names contact support with name of game name of server and suspected bots bet that 1 bot getting banned could end up eliminating several botting bots at once. If you farm it you should know when someone is posting a unfarmable amount and if it isnt a bot blizzard probably wont ban them
I wish, but with blizz’s lack of bot enforcement, I just want the absolute worst for all of them. Please tell me though, what makes each idea so “appallingly bad”? As they would really only be bad for a bot farmer from my point of view.
Edited to reply to Kasanagos too, since blizz has to mess up everything they touch…
I can already see it now… Right click on a mine and four other mines pop up around it, with a prompt saying to right click the gold vein… then the next round of 4 with the prompt saying to click the tin vein… etc, etc
would be amusing for the first 50 mines before it’d get old real quick
I think blizzard should add an expiration timer to at least herbs and fish. Turning them into pots or cooking them extends their timer. The timer could start the moment it gets posted. That would prevent botted mats from being reposted over and over it would also incentivise players posting less at a time. Never again would you see 200+ stacks of fish posted by 1 guy for weeks at a time. I kinda wish metals had a higher vendor cost too like I am tired of all the ore being posted mining takes forever and there is always a ton of ore being posted for super cheap then the bars tank and it’s like well that same ore is going to be bought and reposted 100 times before it is finally consumed
I want them to use the one where you have to rotate the dog to face the way it’s asking.
They could replace the dog with a ghost wolf for that Classic flavor.
