The original game will be re-re-released again overshadowing a failed project which marks the end of any further expansion towards a classic+ or anything that isn’t simply recycled content from 15-20 years ago. OSRS wrote the playbook on how to do it right, sadly the Bliz playbook was to shotgun spray the player base over 5+ versions simultaneously.

SoD is still going. They said before that SoD is a test for classic + beta. Obviously, they aren’t going to announce classic + with it not even being over.

I love OSRS, its amazing, but wow can never be that. A long grind in wow is a very short grind in OSRS. Wow players will not do the long OSRS grinds.
OSRS also has horizontal progression and is much more “skills” focused than combat.
Without those long grinds and unlocks “oldschool wow” would fail. People would complete the grinds far too quickly, get bored and unsub.
Wow in its current state only works in a seasonal capacity IMO for the majority of players.
I get that Era is going strong, but not strong enough for the businessmen at the top to consider it worth investing in.
Are you still logging into SoD? All you doomers should be playing other versions instead. Move along sport.

SOD is stil pretty active yes, and I dont expect that to change much in the near future

It had some good things, just lack of vision and execution and a dev team clearly out of touch. As long as classic plus devs are not these devs we can see how that goes. Still there was some really fun times in SOD.
SOD did not generate money… Cata and retail do… so… it is inevitable.
They’re so stubborn about how bad they are at game design tbh that’s why classic fresh makes more sense than classic plus
Hopefully by the time they do work on classic plus the team has gone through enough changes to have different people working on it who are more talented and cohesive.

I’m sorry, after SoD you just can’t go back to Classic. If I have to start all over I’m taking my subscription elsewhere. I don’t like Retail, it’s not a MMO anymore. SoD was Classic made right. If people want to be Pidgeon holed into roles they don’t want to do and have 1 class as a tank (tank shortage anyone?) by all means go ahead. I bet a lot of the base will go to classic and say F this again.

My plan to to level a horde char to 60 and then park it there for when TBC launches

How given the rest of his points? Only 1 viable tank in classic. So many broken non viable specs. Meanwhile every spec in classic is good and viable
He’s worried the classic classic version womt be very popular as we’ve already had classic, SOM classic, hardcore classic, SoD classic and now classic classic. He is hoping to convince as many sod players to join him but as you said… who can go back to classic after experiencing classic done right in sod?

Go where? Play the three viable classes on auto attack and press two buttons at lvl 60? No one in their right mind will go back to classic after playing improved specs and classes in SOD. They might go to check it out and mess around with a character or two but no way they will stay long time there.
