SoD- Between the Eyes has fizzles often with no indication of the reason

I’ve been PVPing a ton in the past 2 weeks, running Between The Eyes rune the entire time. I can say, unequivocally, that this ability is bugged. This is what I’ve noticed:

If, under any circumstance, BTE fails to connect, there is no combat log indicating it, and no floating text indicating it. It does not say why. I have all the settings in my log turned on.
I have never seen BTE “Miss”. With my current gear I have 3% hit from talents and nothing else, which is enough to not miss very often with ranged abilities. BTE fails to connect much, much more often than the math says it should. I do miss Quick Draw and Shoot Bow autos, but those are properly indicated and logged.

When BTE does fail, its always the same way: 35 energy is used, the combo points are retained, BTE cooldown is incurred, and the spell fizzles (no stun, no damage). This indicates that BTE is not being miss/block/dodge/parry because normally when an ability uses energy but doesn’t connect, energy is still used, but not the full amount of the ability. But like I stated above, there is no combat log event to indicate what even happened. BTE is simply on cooldown, the 35 energy is used, and the spell fails.

My thought is that BTE is being resisted at a higher rate than stun resist usually occurs, but for whatever reason it is not registering as a “resist” in the combat log, and gives no floating text indication either.

I have experienced this bug in PVP and PVE. I have experienced it at melee, short, and max range. I’ve been using BTE for weeks now and can honestly say I’m no longer surprised when it bugs out, because it happens so often as to be expected and worked into my PVP decision tree. I literally count on this bug when I’m making decisions.

I’ve never written a forum post before, but this bug is substantial and very much affects gameplay. I’ve talked to other rogues in game, and while not a large sample size, I’ve never met a rogue who hasn’t experienced this bug. It is common, on the most common PVP rune. We would all be very grateful if it is fixed.

I did a search for this topic and only came up with one other post, talking about how BTE fails to land on Orcs at an extremely high rate. Much higher than would be from Orc passive, according to the poster. Perhaps BTE is somehow bugging around the stun resist mechanic at an increased rate, which is somehow exacerbated when the target has +stun resist? Whatever the cause, it is not functioning like any other Energy consuming ability when it fails to land, and it fails far more often than it should.

I have had the same problem on horde and alliance, can confirm that there is no record of why it misses and is very annoying.

No response? This happens all the time and is very irritating… Did I miss? Was it dodged? Was it a bug?

You’re unlikely to see a response in bug report threads, though this probably would’ve been better off in the classic bug report section

We have one there too but haven’t seen anything yet.
