We’re seeing a lot of avoidance for many of the melee classes through Runes for Season of Discovery. I’m not suggesting we pump the breaks, especially since we’ve only seen up to the level 25 bracket. However, if it’s unknown at the moment, Blizzard, Avoidance Caps may become our new meta by level 60.
Below is the theorycraft which was completed during Classic (credit: GideonAI) on Avoidance build opportunities.
These numbers exclude the new Runes and/or abilities, but some of the Runes may make it more accessible to hit avoidance cap (by level 60) as some of the conditions that are harder to achieve won’t be necessary.
- Rogue: 107.7% Avoidance
- Shaman: 100.5% Avoidance
- Paladin: 75.4% Avoidance (98.74%)*
- Hunter: 92.3% Avoidance
- Warrior: 85.4% Avoidance
- Druid: 76.3% Avoidance
It’s understood we’re only in the 25 bracket to begin, but the TC community is definitely applying everything to the level 60 environment.
I hope everyone is having fun seeing the new opportunities for their favorite classes, as well as the team that is creating them.
Didn’t the rogues already have avoidance cap options in classic? I think that’s how the hardcore guild killed Razuvious. Good post though, I was concerned about this in earnest for the new specs, glad to see someone is doing the math.
You don’t tank razuvious, he hits for like 8k auto. You mind control the pupils and they taunt him. They used marbles (25% reduced chance to hit) to reduce the damage he does to the pupils because their damage was low and they needed time to finish him before the pupils die. You can meme to 100% on rogues but it isn’t reliable, doesn’t generate anywhere remotely close to the threat needed, and no-one would ever use it to tank a raid.
Nah none of this is reliable and relies on attacks that can be parried, abilities that need to be turned on so there’s a death window on pull, etc. But they should pull back on it like the OP says.
It should be worth noting that Rogue doesn’t need Grace of Air on Horde side to hit Avoidance cap with the rune options in SOD.
Also funny enough, Moonkin can hit 86.3% Avoidance which might have some applications in PVP with how interesting Melee are getting with their new abilities and changes.
SOD might be getting spicy!
