The Dark Portal Never re-opens. Burning Crusade never happens. Instead of going through the Dark Portal we go into the Scarlet Enclave. What happens next?

They already said it’s not though. They ruined all speculations.
It would have been fun if they had made a different path to the game with new expansions.
Plans can change, I’m not sure where they are. Metzen gave his opinion but the Priest phase 5 lore seems to suggest maybe this timeline is different. Knowledge leaked into the SoD timeline not meant to be known and a new book describing a future “not meant to be” appeared in the library of the Bronze dragon flight.
Im all for SoD (and if it evolves into Classic+) being an alternate timeline.
I would go further with the changes if a version of Classic is confirmed to be set in a different timeline and goes on for years as more and more is added to Classic Azeroth. That being the Cataclysm does not happen somehow.
I also like to keep a Horde that doesn’t have blood elves, and if horde paladins do happen, keep them to just Taurens.
Also to further keep the Classic Horde theme, no evil warchiefs taking over.
This is also a chance for the burning of Teldrassil to be a future that doesn’t have to happen.

I’m personally fine with us “Filling in the gaps” of lore, because that is actually a massive amount of freedom. We just need certain events to still happen the way they did between it all.
Not against alternative timeline, I just don’t mind it this way either
I think this would be super interesting. I mean on one hand its a great way to simply not blow up the Vanilla world, on the other hand Catacylsm is the tipping point that sends all future lore on its path. Catacylsm causes MoP, MoP causes WoD, WoD causes Legion, Legion causes BFA, BFA causes SL. While DF claims to be a fresh start, it wouldn’t happen without the events of Cata, Legion, BFA, and SL.
Diverting from Catacylsm is a great way to keep the Twilight’s Hammer and N’Zoth as background threats.
At this point with Scarlet Enclave and the Corrupted Ashbringer divergence its no longer a “fill in the gap”

You don’t know that. There is an entire comic never shown in game of Darion killing himself with Ashbringer to free his father from it, that could very well be the Scarlet Raid
There is no divergence there. The Corrupted Ashbringer never dropped in Naxx according to lore.

The comic showed a raid occured with the Argent Dawn and Darion obtained it.
In SoD the Scarlet Inquistor has it.
In the comic Darion obtained it inside of Naxxramas with the Argent Dawn

Yes, so the current theory is that Caldoran or whatever his name is is actually Darion. I’m not 100% sold but it’s extremely odd that we are in the part of the timeline where Darion should be introduced and we haven’t seen a single thing.
With Zirene cheeky remarks about Ashbringer they definitely have some plan they are excited for, I think Darion is becoming involved next phase in some capacity to fit canon
Edit: To add, Gregory I believe is going to find Darion to “bring him back to the light”. We’ll see if I’m right next phase

This sounds very cool. Well he can’t bring him back to the Light fully but he can plant some seeds that can blossom.
Yeah! That was sort of my thought as well, planting the seeds. Gregory’s last quote I could see referring to Tirion or Darion. I’m at a bunch of misses with guesses in SoD though lol
In a hypothetical world of no Cataclysm, I would be interested in exploring the kingdom of Gilneas that isn’t faced with Forsaken Invasion (or if it is, it is prevented). Still dealing with the worgen curse and the civil war, but the Greymane Wall holds because of lack of Cataclysm.

Edit: You can knock my track record all you want but I’m the one who datamined Teo/Gregory a phase ago and everything with the Shaman/Paladin cross faction classes, also the one spamming the secrets Discord with mining and already glitched into the new raid and shared basically it’s entirety

But with what is being presented this was clearly not in the original story as told or presented. Its a deviation in the timeline.

For now still waiting to see. I can’t mine NPCs this phase yet, and I think the most major thing I’ve been confidently wrong on so far has been Darion entering the picture. However I don’t believe Voss has any giveaways aside from a DungeonEncounters table I found, so they could be succesfully hiding Darion
Think it’s a stretch now sadly.
The Ashbringer stuff though, what are you saying makes this not cannon so far? From my understanding our Legendary will end up being the Corrupted Version, I know Ashbringer itself was moved to a new ID and remade but I haven’t really looked at it, assumed a player won’t hold that one and unsure what it would be used for
