To counter the doomers
SoD makes Era feel so much was left on the table before money expanded back in the day. I am having a blast.
Yes it’s an evolving project with a few bumps. But the game balance will keep me subbed.
Fun.

SoD is the best version of WoW they’ve made in a long time imo. For all its faults and flaws, for all that Phase 3 was a horrendously dark period, I’ve had fun playing it.
The key is to play it when its fun to play and not to torture yourself playing it when you’re not having fun.
I have had a lot of fun with SOD. I’m glad that I didnt play SOM so the raids have been interesting to say the least. If you are a veteran of wow you know pvp wont ever be balance and have NEVER been. The key is making fine toning and changes much more often than once every six months.
SoD has the old school mmo feel with good classic design. I literally couldn’t go back to normal vanilla 40 man raiding after experiencing mc and bwl in sod.
Bump.
Also my fav version of WoW. It’s the sweet spot between retail and classic with runes/books and other QoL class changes.
Happy thanksgiving SoD enjoyers.
This has been my favorite version of WoW, possibly ever. Thanks SoD for the fun ride, I hope it continues/expands! Happy Thanksgiving, fellow nerds!
SOD has spoiled me. I couldn’t last more than two days on fresh servers. Back to playing pala on SOD. Everything else feels so boring after SOD.
i’ve certainly come onto to the forums to give my criticism and not nearly enough praise. SoD really is the best version of classic and I would like it to continue into TBC and don’t be afraid to take some far out risks devs.
I always loved the concept of the lock. Vanilla after the first nerf back in the day became tickle dots and bolt pumps. Era is that. SoD reminds me of the pre-BC patch where the gel guard was introduced and a whole new fun.
I too can not go back. Even though the lock is still low tier in SoD, the tools and viable dps makes up for it. The SL/LD feels like a lock and my fav. PvP challenges the micro managing and finding myself really enjoying reflex building regarding adaption of many scenarios. Also gives initiative to learn other classes better due to such. And even the economy of pots is affordable, where farming becomes part of the prep. In turn brings in the rest of the game for a pvper such as myself. And last, raids! I used to hate raiding. Now I enjoy it, where a mature player base makes a difference when gathering off pieces.
sod is fantastic!!! lets get permanent sod era servers and a regular fresh sod with new runes and new content and keep adding onto whatcha got
What makes SoD also appealing is horizontal progression. Not chasing a new expansion carrot on a stick where past work is still useful.
Couldn’t go back to fresh. <3 SOD but damn the PvP is bursty!
I had my doubts at first. Thinking it was going to be a trash fest. Not at all when playing the class right.
100% agree they need to keep building upon the 1-60 experience everything in sod right now is a great start and its faithful to vanilla. just need more content
im sticking with SoD till the end, anniversary fresh is just prep for TBC classic for me.
Im staying on SoD. I made a fresh classic alt but I wasnt feeling it. The new layering system in fresh sucks bad.
The same layering system is in SoD. Actually, it’s the same layering system we’ve had for a long time. It just feels better on SoD because fewer people are playing SoD compared to fresh classic, which means fewer layers required. SoD realms got the “mega server” squish treatment just like the anniversary realms got when they were released.
Not sure about this, I got layered or sharded in a different zone in the anniversary realm. In SoD at least it’s on a world level
Yes, that is because of the raw population of the anniversary realms. Each layer only holds so many people per zone. SoD has less people playing it right now, while the anniversary realms have many players due to being fresh realms. So, the layering system doesn’t need to activate on SoD, while it does on the anniversary realms right now due to many more people.
The more I play ERA, the more i realise how good SoD is.
