Socketing gems

I tried to use shift+rt clk to bring up the socketing window, but nothing happens. I restarted the game. I turned off all add-ons. Nothing seems to help. I don’t get any responses when I ask in-game, so I thought I would try here before contacting Blizzard.

Hmm let me check. brb.

Edit: Worked for me. Try posting this in the Tech Support or Bug forums too if it’s still happening.

Give us more information. What armor type are you trying to socket? Does it have an empty socket in the first place or do you need to apply S.A.D. or a Magnificent Jeweler’s Setting to it first? Looking at your current character, it seems you do not have any eligible pieces to add a gem.

Have you done your basic tech reset outside of just disabling addons (clear cache, wtf folder etc).

Works for me, maybe theres no socket option in the gear

Anything else not working? Sometimes my Alt key sticks. Drives me nuts.

Read Abolita’s post, let’s get all of that helpful stuff. And another thing to try: exit game, delete cache folder, try again.

I could just be confused, but sht-rt click works on a prismatic socket in a head piece. The amulet and two rings have, what appear to be, 2 red sockets each. Are the red sockets just place holders for actual gem sockets. I’m new to the game and gemming. Tks

all open socket slots in current, should be prismatic, not red, so unless its an old piece of gear, I am not sure

Regardless of color, the socketing window opens the same way.

What specific item? Can’t see any empty sockets on your warlock.

Or you might have some addon highlighting the lack of sockets on those jewelry pieces, and can’t open the socketing window because they don’t have any. You’d have to buy a Jeweler’s Setting to add sockets first, and the addon might be complaining at you because that’s a thing that can be bought off the AH.

Thanks for the replies. I just found out that the red sockets are just place holders for prismatic slots. You were on the money Splints. Tks
