Socially awkward turnip looking for a guild

Hello everyone. I have played WoW since 2018, but to be honest I have never been in a guild. I’ve never even made a friend! I have been in a guild by myself and with my alts the entire time, because I liked the idea of having the label of a guild but was always too afraid to join a real one with other players.

To cut to the chase, and I do not mean to trauma dump, but I suffer with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, and it makes interacting and communicating with others difficult. Despite being on Moon Guard, arguably the most social realm in the game, I tend to just keep to myself and people watch instead of actually roleplaying with others, mainly due to the difficulties I just spoke of.

However, I believe I am in need of some exposure therapy, and WoW seems like a great place to start since it is such a social MMORPG, and the fact I call Moon Guard my home seems perfect to me.

This request may fall on deaf ears, and that is okay, but I was wondering if there were any guilds currently open for new members.
I will be completely transparent, I may in fact not actually do much in one. As silly as it may sound, I just truthfully do not know how to communicate very well, and roleplaying is a whole other can of worms that I have never been able to do, but I would like to one day.

I am not even remotely asking to be pitied or to be treated like a child, but the reality is I have absolutely no idea what I am doing. I have never been in a guild, and have never even played WoW with a group other than by using the group finder for dungeons.

I suppose what I am looking for is a nice and welcoming social guild. I admittedly do not have an interest in raiding, and heavy RP-focused guilds probably aren’t for me either since I am so oblivious to how I should act, let alone when playing another character.

I don’t even know if this post is worthy of being on this forum or not, but I hope you all can understand. Feel free to reply to this post or send an in-game letter to Konchok.
I hope you all have a wonderful day/night!

I want to let you know that you are not alone in this. I may not have any guilds I can list off hand, but a majority of this realm is willing to take the time and learn with you when it comes to social interactions.

I suffer from a couple mental illnesses as well, including being schizophrenic. It is a little late in the evening tonight. I am willing to bet that people will come into this thread to point you in the right direction.

I just wish I knew what to type in all honesty. I am sure you will find a place, just relax and take it easy on yourself. It takes a lot to put yourself out there like you have just done. I’ll reach out to a few guild leaders I know and see what I can come up with.

Stay strong. :dracthyr_love_animated: :dracthyr_heart:

Wow, I would have never expected to randomly come across someone else with schizophrenia here. That kind of made my night, to be honest. I wish you nothing but the best; thank you.

Not a problem, it can feel overwhelming and scary. I’m literally sitting here (and I feel like I’ve overstepped), I’ve reached out to, two guilds. Someone should reach out to you, like I said though. It is a tad late, you don’t have to take the first offer you get. I’m just trying to provide avenues to get you in a place where you can feel comfortable.

Thank you very much, you are a kind person. Perhaps I was so afraid over nothing.

Just take a couple deep breathes, you’ll find a guild and folks to interact with. That much I can be certain about. Moon Guard is quite a large realm and from my experience(s), we prefer folks to be comfortable in their own skin. Maybe one guild isn’t quite what you are looking for, no worries. The realm is large and when the sun rises again (Its almost 1 am EST for me lol) more folks will come to the thread and offer advice, their friendship and perhaps guild membership.

Just relax  You will get through this like so many before you have.

Hi there and welcome to the adventure of finding a fitting guild!

The guild I have been pointing people towards if they are tackling social anxiety and other mental health challenges, would be Swords for Everyone. They are made specifically for this and they do a little bit of everything; normal/heroic raids, M+, battlegrounds/world PvP, some RP and also have a pretty good social focus. I am not sure how active they are on MG-A currently, but I know their WrA-H is still going! You could reach out for sure and inquire, they’re good people!

Also, here is their website if you would like to read a bit more:

Like Loner said, you are not alone in this and if SfE is not for you, then I am certain more people will weigh in with great suggestions :sparkles:

Vouch for SfE if they are still as awesome a group as they were. I was with them Through WoD and Legion and it was some great folks.

So true, not alone. I’m just another mental health one, looking for likely the same thing. Social, relaxing, helping = fun! I love WoW, played since Vanilla with my (now) ex-wife. I love WoW but I hate raiding, I do not go on voice chat which pretty much kills raiding. I tried running a guild, helping, main tank, organizing runs and got burned out back in TBC & Wotlk.

Looking for a active Social guild. Active Discord posting daily stuff, memes, videos, music etc would be a massive hit! Blizz turned WoW into iLvl + raiding = more raiding. Feels like that’s all WoW is, what is ones iLvl and when can they raid!

I unsub & come back, I love what WoW used to be. More social, working together. Now Blizz hands so much for free, I hear people saying they are bored. Going to quit till there is new content. Blizz made WoW into buy an expansion, get a max level character (-5 or 10 levels) level to raid, beat raids, wait till next expac and do it all over again.

Out looking for other cozy MMO’s but not much compares to WoW, just feel like an outsider here in WoW since I’m not going to stress out in raid groups.

I did in fact end up applying for and being accepting into Swords for Everyone.

They are perfect for someone like me! Perhaps they could be of interest to you as well. We really just hang out and goof around. They do raid, but it is not the main point of the guild at all. I doubt I will do much raiding myself. I just love the community.
