Are you one of those people that chats with the team/guild on discord casually? Or are you like me and just like to vibe on your own?
I ask because I joined a guild maybe 2 months ago and they’ve been very welcoming. I went on discord 1 time after being asked 5/6/7 times - went in for 2 mins said hello, what’s up, cracked a joke and said I’m off - I’m not much of a discord chatter.
I’ll go on discord if it’s necessary for the content but generally prefer not too for social stuffs
I’m happy with it, I much prefer to have music going and just relax and type in gchat but I feel it’ll probably effect my ability to make pals in the long run - or it’ll take substantially longer than if I just jumped on and chatted
I’m just not that social, I’m not anxious or awkward or whatever I just wanna vibbbbbbe
What’s your thoughts?

I never hang in discord. Sooner or later drama happens and folks gquit. Usually over inappropriate comments or harrassment.
I getcha hun. Life’s a ruckus and the last thing you wanna do is end up walking into it. I think you’re fine!!
I don’t tend to join guilds - the crowd of people that plays WoW isn’t….my crowd. They’re the kinda people I feel who’d hate crime me irl or just…worse from my experience.
So I’ve stuck to just staying on my own, loving the lore, and having a fun time elsewhere.

I actually like when there’s written conversation in /g going on. Don’t like Discord at all. 
I have made a handful of attempts to hang out in Discord, especially if I’m asked to by a group I’ve been hanging out with for a while. Almost every time I’ve left due to juvenile jokes, loud eating, super noisy background noises on someone’s end, or what have you.
Maybe I’m just uptight or have a very small threshold for nonsense, or perhaps I’m just a creature of habit and prefer to talk to the couple of friends I’ve been hanging out with for some years now. I don’t know. I just know that group chat isn’t for me, for one reason or another lol
Voice chat? No. Text chat? Yes.

It’s so much more convenient, though.
I enjoy Discord. But the fact of the matter is that not everyone’s home lifestyle allows for spending hours on Discord. If you have children and/or a spouse, or in fact, ANY other people in your realm, you may need to adjust the time you spend in Discord. Especially if you are in a very interactive Discord (voicechat). You can’t hear and respond to everything else going on in your world.
It’s no better than someone who talks on the phone all the time in the middle of their family time. It’s rather rude to your children and significant others.

I’ve usually got something playing in the background, joining discord to a conversation I wasn’t a part of nor was I interested in, and then having minutes of silence is awkward AF and pretty annoying most of the time.

I’ve seen this too many times. Even while logged out of the game, something that happened in game continues.
I hang out in my Discord, several friends do to but not everyone in the guild. It’s more a group of friends, made on this game, hanging out talking about life and running stuff together.
We don’t talk politics, ever. They are good people, that’s all that matters. And a political view one way or the other doesn’t change that. And that’s a view the whole country needs to adopt.

My last guild after a raid after hung out in discord. Next day they gquit due to arguments. I’m glad it’s working out for you though.
Sure, but every guild is a little different. You can usually count on the same 4-5 people being in the chat channel on off raid nights in my guild. It depends on my mood I guess. Sometimes I’ll chat while I play, sometimes I’ll listen to music, or sometimes I’ll have a podcast or something in the background.
I prefer to have someone to chat with while doing boring content like leveling, world quests, or herbing. If there’s no one to talk to I’ll try to find something on youtube.

My guild is very active in their discord playing other games, or just vibing. We even have a movie night. I’m never in discord unless I’m doing keys with them or we’re raiding. You’re not alone.

Discord especially is not something I like.
I don’t chat much, I come on to play the game not chat. I chat in real life, game time is for playing. lol
I have real life friends I socalize with. I come on games to play the game.
