since at the moment Dracthyr is tied to Evoker until the next patch, I feel like asking something… is there a plan to make the Soar ability into an ACTUAL mount?? one where it isn’t reliant upon jumping just before the casting is done when you are lagging so that you actually take off in steady flight mode?

Is there a reason it isn’t already? Like why can’t Dracthyr pick herbs, mining nodes, and what else while flying but druids can? Why can’t we use Soar as a ground mount like druids can without being dismounted? it is insane that this isn’t a racial mount but just an ability.

Because one is a racial ability and the other is a class ability? They are not the same nor were they ever promised to be.

they are the same thing, both abilities allow the person to fly without the use of a ‘mount’ as the character themselves is the mount.

If they were the same thing, you wouldn’t be here complaining.

Just because a class has an ability doesn’t mean anyone with wings is entitled to it.

I would just be happy to not be dismounted every single time I land, or having the ability actually WORK with steady flight, however it also makes sense to be able to pick flowers or mine while flying since you have hands, why does the druid get it only when they have claws, no hands??

Excellent argument as always, no.

Don’t pay attention, on the local fools, it’s obvious that Soar should be improved and redesigned, and let you can fly over the ground with 100% movement speed without dismount, either on a any other fly mount or in a druid’s travel form.

honestly I don’t even know why it wasn’t in the first place, it is kind of stupid that every other class and race can now pick herbs and mines and anything else that can be gathered just by spending points in their gathering profession but Dracthyr racial ‘ability’ (cause it ain’t a mount atm) is forced to land, dismount, and then to bad if you get into combat

Yes, it may seem so at first glance, you gave an example of a comparison with druid’s travel form, which is an ability, not a mount and works like a mount, accordingly there are already ready-made mechanics that can quickly solve this problem.

works like a mount up until druids, being the special class they are, can gather without dismounting, a thing that only they have without needing points into their profession.

ok so tell me then Limecat, why is it that druids get to be the special snowflake? Why can they be the only class that gets to gather without needing to dismount or place points into their gathering profession? can you explain that to the ‘entitled’ one here?

Dracthyr as a whole shouldn’t be dismounted when we land and they should be able to gather while soaring, this isn’t to much to ask.

I don’t have to tell you why they get to be special because I don’t make this game.

All I can tell you is that racials are not class abilities, lol. They are not meant to be the same and they’re generally far less powerful.

Whether you think this or not, saying “b b b b bUt dRuiDs cAn dO iT” is not a logical argument.

I wouldn’t have a problem with changing it to be better obviously, I main evoker. But stamping your feet and yelling about how your racial ability should be as strong as a class ability dilutes your argument.

It is really weird tha Dracthyr has a gathering racial, but are discouraged from using their other racial (Soar) for gathering. I would be fine with it at least having no cooldown.

There are currently 2 main issues with the soar design, and I’m not talking about bugs:

  1. Landing cancels your flight mode, meaning that every single branch you hit you have to re-cast soar. This causes issues when you press W to move forward. With mounts you’d start flying again, but with Dracthyr you fall down.
  2. You can lift off the ground when on a mount when in combat, currently you cannot do that with soar. This makes quickly grabbing a herb and then taking off nearly impossible when there’s a mob

My suggestions:

  1. Give Dracthyr a new ability that lets you toggle between “fall = fly” and “fall = fall”. When enabled it would automatically enter soar the same way as falling on mounts would enter flight mode. Obviously this shouldn’t work where you cannot use skyriding.
  2. Just let Dracthyr use soar when in combat and have it act like a spell cast. Getting hit puts the bar back a little but it will eventually cast.

If they change things on soar id be worried about losing the 830%move speed. The 705% on reg mounts feels so slow
