The Soaked Journal Entry item is no longer usable for me, anyone else experiencing this? Attempting to use the item provides an error reading “You don’t know that skill” - of course this is a character that knows Khaz Algar fishing that is not maxed out.

Same problem, fished it up using Khaz Algar fishing, skill level 250. Get the message “You don’t know that skill.”
I’m also seeing this across several character - both characters that were Timerunners, and a new character created since then and leveled to max level, this character has started levelling Khaz Algar fishing and was around fishing 10.
This also happened to one of my 14 toons, has 148 fishing and Aqirite Fisherfriend on. Tries to use in and it keeps saying “you don’t know that skill”

Me too, just need to get to 300 to win fishing mount, bugged out at 270

Ditto. Bought all the different expacs fishing skills in case, still broken. This was a Lemix character.
Seems to me that this started after the Midnight pre-launch. Maybe it is trying to level Midnight Fishing and that is the problem. Pretty much a typical irritation that is more common with the game these days.
Yeah just did the fishing derby and bought a handful of these and now I can’t use them, frustrating to spend an hour on that and not be able to use the reward. =/

Yup! No go on any of my characters (that aren’t already 300 fishing) Tried everything too. Keybinding it, macroing it. Nada!
Same issue. Have a stack of Soaked Journal Entry pages in my warbank. Decided to bring a toon out and get his skill up a bit then use the pages to finish it off and got, “You Don’t Know That Skill”. What is interesting is these worked a few months ago when I used them on my main to finish off the fishing skill.

I got these yesterday on my alt, and it gave me the same message. I wonder if it is trying to level up midnight fishing for some reason.
Its a known bug that happens every pre-patch since such items were added to the game. Blizzard is aware of the issue, but its not high on the to-do list for them to warrant fixing it right now.
My speculation is that this item always only applies to the current expansion’s Fishing skill (which, technically, is Midnight now, as far as the game is concerned), and unfortunately, when playing within the liminal space of pre-patch, it becomes useless to us.
Hopefully, the developers will agree that this is a bug and can figure out how to make it more broadly apply to whatever the player’s highest trained fishing skill is, expansion agnostic.
