So you want to be a pvp god in vanilla?

Better get those gadgets and if your a warrior doesn’t hurt to have a healer or hybrid buddy. Don’t forget your free action pots my dudes. Found a video by punk rat under same name as title of this post it has everything you need to know!

You can certainly pvp without enginering gadgets, but you certainly won’t be topping any leader boards or anything.

If you need any of that to stomp pub scrubs as a crutch you are seriously bad. That stuff only matters if you solo queue or you’re up against other premades.

PvPing in Vanilla without consumables/on use items is like PvPing in BFA without Warmode talents.

it ain’t cute and neither are you.

Look at this guy who has to use consumables to win against pub scrubs. Clearly this is the kind of winner that consistently 5-caps and 3-0s.

ok
:black_small_square:

Enjoy rank 6 I guess.

You did so little PvP that you can’t even recognize R10 armor? What was the highest rank you ever got to. Bet you it wasn’t higher than mine.

Rofl :rofl::rofl::rofl:

He did get High Warlord.

That doesn’t mean that his presence in this thread is very useful because clearly, it’s not.

Because this thread has so much meaningful content.

It was obviously supposed to be about the use of engineering gadgets and alchemy pots in PVP before it was derailed… by you.

So I intend to do a little PVP in Classic and I freely admit to being a scrub. I enjoy scarfing up every kind of thread on this subject that I can and I’m disappointed. :expressionless:

There’s no magic consumable that makes you a PvP god. Given that there’s no ranked matchmaking, if you get to a certain level of PvP, you only use it when you need it, which isn’t often, or use it for the fun of it, and it’s often no more effective than doing without.

The only things that are close are grenade spam, which is a waste of money when you can win consistently without them, and as the OP mentioned, FAPs for a warrior and breaking a turtle.

Noggenfoggers are just about the only consumable I used on a regular basis and forced people to use.

All that shows is you didn’t have what it takes to get rank 14.

No it shows that R13 armor literally looks like a giant flaming dumpster fire.

Don’t care how you slice it. If you’re competitive you’re going to optimize. I don’t care if it’s gear, strategy, items, pots, world buffs, group comp, abilities, talents, communication, or grouping/group comp. PvP in every game is about optimizing your setup to a level you are comfortable with. Not everyone is meant to be a world class player. If you are? Cool. If you’re not? Cool. shoot for a level you’re comfortable with. Just don’t cry. There’s no crying in pvp…oh wait…
Adjust or get rolled. /shrug
Pwn or be pwned. Just don’t cry…

So, say BGs are patched in and you don’t yet have all your BIS and 300 engineering and gold for every single consumable forever. Say you’re aiming for R12ish.

Is it worth starting the the honor grind even so, or wait to gear/farm some more first?

And once you’ve started, is it ever worth taking time for dungeons still? Or is it always best to just sink all of your available time into BGs, to get there faster?

I was pretty casual back in the day, only got to R9 before DHKs called, but thinking of going a bit further this time and realising I don’t know enough about how to get there…

There’s no need to optimize anything except your ability to seal club since vanilla had no real matchmaking. That relies primarily on three things, better than average gear, better than average skills, and better than average coordination. If you have that, you’re well on your way to curbstomping pub scrubs and embarrassing second tier raiding guild premades. You only have to get that last edge if you really want to take on the R14 group or the top raiding guild group.

OP did say PvP GOD
that implies completely dominating in any and all aspects of PvP, PuG or not

and don’t forget limited invulnerability pots and arcane bombs and the big ones and scorpid surprises and dirge’s kickin’ chimaerok chops and restorative potions and living action potions and magic dust and alarm-o-bots and to stock up on tons of flasks and other consumables which should always be up at all times when you’re in a BG if you’re gonna try THAT hard to be good at PvP
