So you Picked your Covenant Based on Story but it's the best Preforming one

Will you swap if it gets nerfed and becomes the worst with your most hated covenant becoming the best?

I think Blizz should buff the worst and nerf the best for all classes as an experiment to see how many of their players care about performance Vs aesthetics since you can’t trust what people say. Hard Data like that would show them if they can make changes without killing the player base or if they should just finally pull that ripcord.

Necrolord has a 15% pickrate.

It’s hilarious how imablanced the covenants are.

Oh I know. Which is why they should buff it like crazy or nerf others. They need data to see if people are picking what they like or what WoWhead tells them to.

For months people have pushed it’s only the 1% that care about numbers. Blizzard needs to test that theory.

Considering the data of what people are picking lines up pretty darn well with what covenant is generally accepted as the best, I’d imagine that if you nerfed the Hunter Night Fae ability, it’s very possible there’d be a mass exodus to whatever is next best.

People are dumb if they think that.

Subtlety went from basically the least played spec in all areas of the game in BFA, to now, where Night Fae Sub Rogues alone outnumber Venthyr Rogues of all specs by a ratio of almost 2:1.

People will play what’s good and shun what isn’t.

Nope. I honestly just don’t care about that crap any more. Chasing the “meta” (ugh) gets old fast.

I’m actually kind of pleased to see that according to the latest random stats website that didn’t even have my character in its database, Night Fae is super unpopular with Paladins. Viva le rebellion. And le fox. Yes, I get to be a blue glowing fox with decent run speed. Ain’t nothing gonna convince me to give that up

I mean we’ve all seen what General Chat devolved into over the past few months…it’s obvious how dumb the average WoW player is

I wouldn’t swap even if they removed my ability entirly for this character. I love Night Fae and its the only covenant that makes sense. Its now ingrained inot my characters identity.

With others yup I’ll swap but those were never chosen because the covenants appealed in anyway other then numbers in the first place.

I might be strange but the covenants actually seem to represent very few of the classes in my opinion.

They could just try and balance things for a change and stop making obvious choices.

I’d stick with the covenant for cosmetics. I enjoy performing well, but I’d rather rely on a solid dps rotation than min-maxing the hell out of everything. That being said, I’m fine with looking up BiS armor pieces to find out what I should be aiming for, but I’ve never been in a situation where my abilities were forcing me to choose between performance or cosmetics.

My primary interest in raiding is usually to get cosmetic appearances. If the performance difference is so great that Castle Nathria is undoable because of a team of players’ covenant choices then I’ll reevaluate my decision, but I really doubt it will be that bad.

I’ve seen people unironically argue that the fact that like 75% of Paladins being Kyrian isn’t because it is all-round the best ability for all three specs, it’s because Paladins just really like the aesthetic.

Also Shamans as a whole really like the idea of being Necrolord unless they play Enhancement, then they’re fans of the Venthyr.

Crazy how nature do that.

Also, please don’t link that site that shows how widely unbalanced covenant choices are, Blizzard already deleted the previous two threads that did.

Considering your a cute gnome hunter with a good mog I actually believe you!

I do think a large percentage of the population(including some posting in topics like these swearing they picked based on the look and story alone) would swap in a heartbeat. Especially if WoWhead or their favourite streamer told them to. I think it would be fun for Blizzard to make changes just to see how many players do switch. It would be a good indicator of if the system worked as they intended or not. Based on the current WoWhead data it did not but they can’t say for sure without swapping the meta Covenants.

I like all of them equally so performance would drive me to another covenant if my chosen one gets destroyed. Yes.

That’s exactly why I started this topic. Anyone with half a brain sees how bad it is. Without hard data to prove why the choices are so skewed they can’t actually make a decision if they need to open up the system a bit more or not.

True balance will never exist. The question is if the meta matters more than our desire to associate with our chosen covenant or not. Changing the meta is the only way to test this.

Nope. Not how I roll.

Buddy I picked indomitable throughout legion and I was told to kill myself by a meta slave in a normal raid that I was overgeared for.

What make you think I will listen to these losers if my covenant goes down under ? ( Australia is nice place so don;t take it too personally :rage:). I will stay the same.

It is going to be difficult to find players for the M+ dungeons that necros get bonuses to to.

LoL I mean there are a lot of dumb meta slaves. My favourite streamer is Venruki and I’m super happy he went against the Kyrian meta on his WW monk and went Night Fae.

I really think they should swap the meta…maybe it won’t be till next patch even but after all the arguments over it only mattering to the 1% or not some kind of experiment is the only true way to test it.

After playing the beta it was easy to see most people would prefer hanging in the Queens Court over the seat of the Primus. Ugly muted flesh and bone is not going to appeal to people as much as the blues and purples and amazing sky in Ardenweld. It just happens Night Fae is also meta for a lot of classes so unless it becomes the worst they won’t be able to tell if people chose the look story/or the abilities.

Actions always speak louder than words.

Personally I plan to stay Night Fae regardless. I had planned on it back when Kyrian was the top pick due to Pelagos.

But if it gets nerfed I 100% expect a bunch of people to dip.

Covenants should have been strictly aesthetic- and story-based, never connected to player power.
