I have been waiting for this for so long. Proper sliders. Eye separation, ear pointiness, chin width. Beard length, hair volume, character height. Muscle mass, fat mass, bone structure.
Blizzard, your game’s character customisation is still technologically in the late 90s. You should use it to your advantage, and finally make the proper character customisation, instead of progressing into early 2000s. Please, give us proper sliders. Proper hair physics + the ability to customise hair texture. Proper body physics + the ability to customise bone structure and build. Or, maybe, it should be dictated by our stats? Muscle mass by strength, far mass by stamina, bone structure by soulbind level? Height by achievement points? Dwarf beard length by level?
Please, do something with it. Don’t keep technologically up with The SIms 1. Go beyond The Sims 5.

No, it’s not sliders, it actually looks good. (Except that dopey bald human male. Sorry human!)

I don’t see them actually doing it because of the sheer work that it’d take to do something on that scale.
Don’t get me wrong, I would love it as well, but it’s just not something feasible for them with the engine, and how gear and other items work off of it. I’ll be pretty content with the customizations coming but I don’t expect much more than what they are doing or other sort of additions.
Imagine the sheer amount of game developers paying fortune to keep up with such technology. That would evolve the gaming industry.
Yeah, and over half of y’all will have gnomes looking like they’re smuggling basketballs
Gnomes belong to the Horde. Goblins would make excellent friends for them.
I mean WOW is an older game and running with an older engine, we dunno how far they can push this engine and perhaps there are hard limits to what it can do.
I’m just happy for all the new options. <3

Every game that uses sliders looks like a freak show.

and that’s why there has to be that one game to redefine the way sliders work.
If they pulled out some realistic sliders - such as those from XIX anthropology books, or the features that are shaped by hormones in RL humans - and made them the proper way, it’d work. Of course, it wouldn’t be as customisabe as some game where you can make your arms longer than both legs and torso. But it would be realistic.
This game will probably never have sliders. That they are expanding customization in the ways they are is beyond what the company is usually comfortable with. For many years we were told things weren’t possible because you had to be recognizable as a specific type of character based on your silhouette.
People can’t use the sliders properly now, and you want them to be realistic.
Good luck.
Something something spaghetti code
Just give us that standard “square-round-angular” face shape triangle. Add some “black-asian-white” triangle for other facial features and skin colour. And standard “muscular-thin-fat” triangle for body features. Then let us choose some minor individual features - such as hair colour, eye colour, tatoo. This system worked well in Elder Scrolls Online.
And replace the “white-asian-black” triangle with something race-specific for nonhuman races.
Then add proper hair physics and texture sliders.
That’s what they have in other games.
And faces look like a freak show.

So says a blood elf.
What’s next? Maybe they should remove all races except blood elf and gnome?

The game engine fundamentally can’t support sliders. I am sure they could add it to the models with a bit of work however gear would no longer show at all on characters. Gear is custom made to fit those preset body types.
