And not Genn Greymane, the man who not only knew his father well and fought with him when he died on the Broken shore… And also practically took on Anduin as his surrogate son after the death of Liam and cares for him just as deeply?
Are the sword souls actual souls? Are they memories? If they’re memories why is the guy that Anduin talked to for like all of 10 minutes the 2nd father-figure in this triangle?
Because… Genn’s not dead?
How did you want Genn to materialize there at that moment?

It’s Blizzard’s attempt at an emotional payoff. The scene fails to land because we’re never told the swords have this particular power, or that if Anduin is merely hallucinating.

That’s what the pretense of “are these souls or are these memories” comes from. Varian was disenchanted harder than Garrosh, and Saurfang is a trinket you find in SoD.
two reasons:
Genn isn’t in the Shadowlands, nor is head dead, so his spirit couldn’t really come to help.
Second, it shows the two wielders of that blade. Saurfang wielded that blade in his fight against Sylvanas.

That would be mad disrespectful if that was actually the entirety of Saurfang’s soul.
It’s more than likely Anduin is actually interacting with the consciousnesses of these heroes in some fashion, just like he did on the Broken Shore in Legion.

Maybe souls attached to the sword, it’s made by the Highborne.
So the blade is what, a runeblade now? It just takes on characteristics of its owners if they’re wielding it when they die?
That would be mad disrespectful if that was actually the entirety of Saurfang’s soul.
I mean, Blizzard kind of hit a new low letting Arthas show up a literal anima blobule while Sylvanas monologued at him and made the scene all about her. I wouldn’t be surprised.
Weapons are soulbound for a reason? xD
Idk it’s my best guess as to why he was there, he used it in his fight against sylvanas… and he weilded it with pride? So… I guess he attuned to the blade like old D&D style magic items? I have no idea. Blizzard isn’t exactly writing prime material anymore, but based on the information I have. Those are my best guesses.

It’s probably close, though I’m at this point just betting on narrative inconsistencies.
I don’t know ,long shot but in my thoughts, possibly because Anduin kinda looked to Saurfang more and felt more connected to him than Genn.
Idk, I’m probally reaching, maybe, maybe not.
It’s just their memories, not their actual souls. A similar thing happened to Anduin on the Broken Shore too.
Both of them were very impactful in Anduin’s life. Varian for obvious reasons. But colluding with Saurfang allowed them to put an end to the faction war. They had several serious discussions. It was a huge story arc they just went through last expansion. Saurfang’s memory still lives on with Anduin and it’s still pretty fresh.
Saurfang is also a highly notable person who could match Varian’s presence, was a wielder of this sword, and Saurfang had a stake in this too being part of the Sylvanas story arc that ultimately led to SL.
Genn is like an uncle to Anduin. But he’s not quite at the same level of impact of these two.

i can’t believe that people haven’t notice the obvious.
a part of Saurfang’s and Varian’s soul is in the blade my notice, watch the cinematic again and when aduin breaks the sword in 2 (wish by the way that sword is Varian’s original sword and that sword have had always had the ability to split into two)
if you watch the sword closely 1 sword had a blue gem and the other has a red gem.
where the blue gem is it was the sword that had Varian’s hand place in where he help Aduin split it.
where the red Gem is it was where Saurfang had his hand place in it .
blue=alliance
red=Horde
blue pill, red pill
a part of varian soul is on the sword and a part of Saurfang soul is in the sword, why?
well duh, they where the last ones to use it before Aduin was force to used it when it was corrupted.
the Jailer probably put them there sense those two we incredible warriors and the Jailer used Arthas soul as the main line to control them but sense we weaken Aduin in the fight we also weaken Arthas during that fight because we fought a part of him in that raid.
meaning that soul could no longer give enough power for the jailer to control all of them.
well atleast that is how i saw it.

People want to get out of this expansion. There’s mounting evidence that a lot of this stuff was foisted upon the Devs.
Orc men make great father figures.
It’s a fact.

I am not going to believe the “Afrasiabi did this. He made us all write poor storylines!” cope for even a minute. People DO want out of this expansion, I agree 100% there, but the only evidence I’ve seen is the kind where Danuser (or rather, people who make WoW lore videos at the least) is trying cover his butt with the help of that not-so-secret-now Discord group of insiders and influencers.
its kinda true.
the gal raisin my kid takes em to visit her gram-papy orc.
