So why has Blizzard decided to ruin Void Elf Identity?

Many already look on our races lore as bad and horrible. But now most “void elves” are just going to be high elf players. Which is totally a polar opposite to our lore. We do not want to be bunched in with High Elves. Give High elves their own race. Don’t butcher our RP and story like this.

I agree if anything they should have had more void themed customization

I liked the bit where you had to farm your reputation with Void elves in order to learn about their expansive lore and unlock them

Man, that Argussian Reach sure was full of void elves

YOU ARE A HIGH ELF.

If Alleria can maintain her normal Elf Self, so can the rest of them if they choose. Still that O’face when the void hit her…

Then stay as a blueberry. Alleria supposedly is teaching us to control the void, so why wouldn’t some eventually learn to contain it like she has? For the rest, let them RP as a High Elf if they want. It’s not hurting anything.

This would also be awesome.

I agree with this. It makes sense for them to learn to contain it a bit. It’s not ruining them a bit. I would like to see more lore on them though.

Damn so glad I left alliance a bit ago. Not saying my VE mage won’t eventually have high elf colors, but yeah what little identity there was is basically gone. You’ll just have “void” on your character screen for practically no reason is all.

I think you just won the thread.

Seriously though, this doesn’t diminish void elf identity at all. There are high elves learning about the void already.

The proper handling was to do this. Not give void elves blood elf appearances but increase they’re voi appeatace to reflect the ritual they undertook in lore. High elves could be added as an allied race with a different skeleton and postures that shared hairstyles with blood elves. Void elf and blood elf appearance sharing is a line that should not have crossed and only shows laziness in blizz to have done so. We will still see our “high” elf transform in combat and use void portals. As soon as that happens the immersion breaks and the fun is ruined.

That’s fair, I suppose. I’m not a big rp’er so it doesn’t affect me as much.

This is about to become my horde main with how Alliance have been in these threads.

Would have liked that way more, show them growing into their power.

Alleria was a high elf who consumed the energy of a dark star naruu after extensive training with locus walker, void elves were in the middle of being transformed into pure void creatures. there is a difference.

Except… it kinda dose, Blizz just tossed out the bone of “now you can look like high elves, stop it” witch kinda gives them carte blanch to ignore the race in lore since people will be happy with their high elves.

I mean, truth be told, I’d be happier if Blizzard just nuked high elves completely, outside of blood and void elves.

“Nope, sorry, they don’t exist any more, they’ve all been killed off, and we’ve deleted high elf NPCs from the game.”

(I have two void elf characters, a 120 arcane mage, and a 60 shadow priest I’m working on. Aside of my one demon hunter - who is only an elf because he has to be - I have no other elves. Void elves are the only elves worth playing, because they’re not just another cookie-cutter Tolkien clone.)

To me, part of the fun in an fantasy game is to imagine where your charecter started on they’re journey, how they trained and then the embarking. If I imagine say an high elf start on the journey, i do not have void training in mind, then going “void” would break my imagination.

i don’t think the identity was lost, one of the first void elves you see is alleria, who rocks her normal skin tone, really the player characters and npcs were the odd ones out

but as long as they still have the void elf racials and heritage, the theme is still intact

Scandal is still running around with the Gift of N’zoth, so he’s all void, all the time.

I wasn’t aware void elves had a story to be butchered.

face it, the race was a misguided attempt to please high elf fans in the first place, now at least they’re actually doing something with the race to make those fans happy.

your purple/blue skin isn’t going anywhere, people choosing peach skin tones isn’t going to make you any less of a void elf, your lore isn’t going to change at all.

DISCLAIMER: I actually like the way void elves look, getting high elf customization on them as well is like icing on the cake.
