Autoloot in beta ?

Feature creep already with qol changes.

I think the OP is talking about being able to see the specific HP number of hostile targets (like you can in retail).

Which
I don’t know why you would think that you should be able to. This is Classic. You can’t even see what buffs hostile targets have without casting Detect Magic.

True.

Couldn’t you get it for raid bosses at least though through addons?

Addons could do it for mobs with known HP values.

I used to use mobinfo add-on

Well I found this addon for the beta
no guarantees on the accuracy though

why do you need to see mob HP ?

You could always shift right click to auto loot in vanilla. Works the same way.

everyone just uses an addon—kill a mob once, then it logs the data forever after. basically built in but inconvenient
like adding autoloot, all they did was remove the need to hold shift and click, basically no real change. if they added the option to toggle this i’d be fine with it since its so trivial and the data is already there, just need an addon to display it properly

why do you need to know anything? why know what level the mob is? why display the values of damage you deal to it or it deals to you? why not just have two green bars—you vs them—and never anything else?

seeing mob HP can change how you play the game and can protect you from engaging in bad encounters

quite boring and less adventurous

Not really. Everyone is just going to go off assumptions based on mob level, elite or non-elite. Beyond that, HP isn’t going to be a good gauge for that—you’ll learn what skills they have once you’re in combat and that’s what makes a difference, in conjunction w/ level. HP is trivial for making a decision to engage, but mostly just a nuisance to be blind to, and most importantly something built into the game that just isn’t displayed
which of course makes it just a routine addon addition

Technically you could always auto loot using the shift/ click. It’s not the AOE loot, you just don’t need to press the alt key. Besides there were addons that would do it back then as well.

i could’ve sworn you had the ability to see mob hp in vanilla

There were addons that estimated that value by using the % health shown and then calculating it from the damage the mob had taken.

So don’t download the addons. You’re an overbearing person who would be boring irl and in game.

you can tell all that from 2 sentences ?

This.

Early mods used to calculate (through combat log) the amount of HP a mob had once it had been damaged. The max HP value used to fluctuate a little until it there was enough data recorded to show an accurate guesstimate. Boss HP was recorded and added through mods like CT/DBM and the like.
