At this point I am starting to become convinced that they do not care how much lore reasons there is for a race to have druid they aren’t giving us any new druids. So harronir also won’t have druids even though the main one we befriend is explicitly a shapeshifting druid.
That being said maybe when/if Harronir come out we’ll get a big druid patch.
The point is those new forms you implied should be used are not available to new players nor players who never unlocked them, so new Dracthyr Druids without those forms essentially wouldn’t have any form except for Moonkin.
Only adding to my point; Blizzard just put in considerable time and resources to the Druid class and moved on to other aspects. Give it some time and Blizzard may come back to more Druid customizations.
I can see everything is going right over your head…
I can’t wait to see more Harronir Druid forms; the bat-wyvern mix for Flight is cool and I’m hoping they have some sort of spider for Cat.
Just to clarify, I’m not against it. I used to main druid before Evoker came out, I love the class and I too was excited for the potential of druid dracthyr (and monks, rip). Just giving my thoughts on what I think drives Blizzard to not have included it on this release (which is money) .
I’m not saying that dracthyr and earthen druids should have them. I’m saying that they spent dev time on that for one patch. They could spend dev team on them for new races.
The reason why we have few druids is because each one takes a significant amount of more time from various departments then simply adding a class to any other race. When Blizzard is trying to maximize their profits the amount of time each department is allowed to work on each expansion is limited. Therefor it’s cheaper and more effecient to only rarely add more druids, that or abandon the concept that each druid is unique.
Again, Blizzard has moved on. You can’t just expect them to hyper-focus on a single class and never give anyone else anything.
h u h
There is no lore (that hasn’t already been retconned or ignored) that prevents any race from being any class (save Earthen Death Knights). The Dracthyr, aside from partially being made up of the Green Dragonflight, have no explicit “Druid lore”; they were created to be Evokers and only Evokers. Now they learned some more ways of fighting from the Alliance and the Horde, and given the development cost to make Druid forms the easiest additions were the “universal” classes of Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Mage, Priest, and Warlock. Whether you agree or not is beside the point; Dracthyr Druids are not coming in 11.0.5. End of discussion.
Continue to whine and moan if you want, but just know it’ll be left unheard. Cheers, crybaby.
Blizz has said over and over that every races will eventually get every class, but designing specifically druids and shamans for new races takes time because of the precedent they set with making unique forms, totems, etc. I’d rather them release more options for races/class combos and maybe do a druid or shaman now and then, but waiting for them to finish druid/sham every drop would take forever for anything. I’m still waiting for night elf paladin and shaman. You can wait for more druids lmao
All cat/bear forms use the same base skeleton which saves a lot of time and money and resources.
Some like Zandalari are based off of creatures that already existed in the world and were just ported over.
All they have to do is create a new texture over the base skeleton. Not saying it’s no work but it’s not as much as they want us to believe either. These forms aren’t being made from scratch.
I can expect if they plan to introduce races with druids or druidic ties to put the resources to make that class available. Can’t arbitrarily exclude a class because effort. Well obviously they can and did.
This is objectively false. Do their starting zone again and read through all the lore.
The evokers are only the best of the best. They have all sorts of fighters and healers that aren’t evokers. In fact there are dracthyr rogues that try to assasinate you on a quest in DF.
Even though monk was supposed to be a universal class as well. The thing is they already had the animations for all of these so why delay these classes if they aren’t going to put any more dev time?
That’s literally the point of this thread.
Then I’ll be left disgruntled and continue to complain. A vicious cycle.
I dunno about that. Seeing that harronir in the campaign shapeshift right in front of our faces is pretty telling that they will be playable and can indeed be druids.
That said, I do agree that we need more races that are available to play now that can be druids. I don’t care much for lore personally, so I hope they open up the class to any other race in the game.
Blizzard doesn’t really put in the extra effort unless it’s the basis of something they are doing. I think it’s more likely that Paladin, Shamans and Druids will be unlocked to all races as an expansion feature, rather than a random patch.
Blizz art team has gotten lazy, no one made an uproar about mechagnomes and it went downhill from there. They just keep attempting to get away with more and more. Dracthyr themselves should have had full tmog options limiting it to shoulders and tabard was a horrible design, but theyd rather cut corners.
The druid models in Emerald dream patch were monster models.
Every race should have gotten druid in that patch because anyone can be connected to the emerald dream now.
Every race should have gotten shaman in DF launch because of primalists. Totems are anon issue could have had them use the default taurun totem until they could make models of them. (also how hard is a stationary object to model anyway that literally just has recolors/weather effects for the four elements.)
Every race should have paladin now too thanks to the arathi questlines again mount is a nonissue because before race specific mounts everyone got horses. So just give them default horses until you can make the new mounts (which is literally their racial mount with some paladin armor on it)
Earthen should have gotten DK too, we saw they could be corrupted by void and other magics so why not death magic. There are plenty of death magic constructs in Shadowlands.
That’s just my go to when people say druid models cost money. Yes, they do, but druids are also always in the top 3 most played classes. They WILL see return on that effort. There’s a reason they add druid forms every expansion, they want to please one of their most played classes.
Don’t forget Pandaren with their Celestials. Should’ve been druids a decade ago.
Let’s face it: druids are the most difficult class to expand, most time and money, because of the shapeshifting forms so Blizz goes out of their way not to do it. Same reason we get reskinned races now.
Custom shapes for the race takes time and people would complain more, imo, if they didn’t have at least a bit of draconic flair to them, even if it’s just bear/cat/whatever having dragon eyes like regular visage.
