Pretty much all that you stated, OP. Just a place to vent, share and reflect on what’s going on in the game as well as the world. It’s either this or tweet like an angry man yelling at his tv screen.

It’s a mystery to me, too.
I come on the forums to share my love for Anduin x Sylvanas. 
Plus anything else that pops in my mind.
Sometimes I get so bored I get stuck in a loop of browsing 3 different forum websites over and over being Twitter/Reddit/WoW Forums and well off I go!
I just like posting random comments and so on here 
but I also like to get depressed when I read the DK beta forums.

Right now? It’s just some passive activity while I wait on a pizza to be delivered.
But more generally, it’s interesting to discuss the game with others who enjoy and/or understand it on some level? Few of the people I talk to IRL play or have ever played WoW so if I want to talk about it online communities are the only option.
