So Where's Nathanos?

I don’t think he’s in the Maw or we would have stumbled on him already.

I really hope that the Shadows Rising story is continued and Bwonsamdi managed to snatch his soul since Apari used his necklace as an offering, therefore Nathanos would be possibly considered one of Bwonsamdi’s followers at this point and he would be able to intervene.

I really liked the snark between Nathanos and Bwonsamdi with Bwon trying to appeal to whatever humanity is left in Nathanos to turn against Sylvanas. That could easily turn Nathanos into ‘one of the good guys’ trying to help us defeat the jailer and I think that would be an ironic twist.

I was about to reply with a stupid headless pun, but I actually love this idea that he betrays her. :smiling_imp: Really twist the knife.

Why would Bwonsamdi save Nathanos after he mounted an outright attack on his kingdom that nearly got both him and Talanji killed? Of all the people who would save Nathanos, Bwonsamdi is among the least of them.

No, he’s likely in the Maw and we just haven’t found him yet, because it’s huge.

Bwonsamdi is a pragmatist, though. He will do what’s necessary.

How exactly is Nathanos necessary? Given that the world summarily forgot about him until Tyrande brought him up, I’d imagine his part in whatever plan is now over. His part in the story is one that might aid Sylvanas - something I doubt Bwonsamdi has much care in facilitating given she tried to get him and his queen killed.

because Bwonsamdi understands leverage and deals.

He’s tiny and can travel through vents. Very useful.

Nathanos is almost 100% in the hands of the Jailer to be used as leverage should Sylvanas start thinking for herself.

that’s another possibility.

I think if the Jailer does have his soul he may make her choose between him or her other soul shard. I would raise the stakes for her if the jailer crushed the one she didn’t choose. I would like to see this story get that dark, and question the cost of loving someone, especially in regards to Sylvanas since she’s often accused of putting herself over others. If she chooses to save him at the expense of her ‘better half’ that would have long lasting implications on her character.

If Sylvanas is getting redeemed or something along those lines, we’ll probably go rescue him and that’s where we’ll find Arthas.

At first I was hoping for a reunion between Kel’thuzad and Arthas. But now? As much as I would love to see Arthas make a cameo, I really hope blizz leaves him well enough alone. They’re already ruining his legacy with the most recent retcons :wolf:

Arthas is very delicate ground to tread, they need to step softly or they might completely undermine him more than WOTLK did.

So you know they’ve got their stomping boots on.

lol, I would personally find this hilarious, I’ve changed my mind, I want this to be the plan.:joy_cat:

No, foreshadowing suggests that’s where Arthas’s soul is.

It does show how completely clueless Bwom is about what drives Nathanos, and why he has a fanatic’s loyalty to her.

I thought the current line of thought was that he was the giant Tarragrue thing in Torghast. Having his soul imprisoned/forged into a mute monstrosity to hunt down unwanted guests in the tower seems very on character for both him and the Jailer.

According to the Dungeon Journal though, the Tarrague has been around since Torghast was first built. It would be impossible for it to be Nathanos :wolf:

I’m sure people like Baal will think of something to salvage their fan theory.

But in regards to the topic, the most likely answer is that the Jailer has him locked away somewhere for his failures (mainly killing Bwonsamdi) and will be used as leverage against Sylvanas. Given her reaction in the battle for Ardenweald cinematic, she was not aware that he died.
