Discord hasn’t been “consumer friendly” in quite some time, though.
Guilded is better than Discord. But the hate for the Roblox company means no one will use it.

dont need a good product when people will pay for a bad one.
i can see why its hard to clean up after that think about some minecraft youtubers lol
It doesn’t even matter whether they do or don’t. They will milk it for all they can then sell stocks as soon as the ship begins to sink. They have no stake in to the long-term health of the products, so they won’t care either way.
Discord has been dead for a long while… since the feds took it over due to dipsh*ts leaking classified info one too many times.
Much better ty
LOL no it isn’t.
I could have sworn I typed “dead to me” oh well.
I mean if this is true, it still begs the question of what follows, and if there’s no viable alternative then most folks will just stay in place with Discord, like many already do with those other services I mentioned.
People have complained, loudly, about YouTube practices for years and wanting something else to take its place…but where is that something else? It doesn’t exist. YouTube still reigns supreme. I figure Discord is the same way in its market. Some people may move if Discord ‘YouTubes’ itself, but most users will remain even as they complain about how bad things have gotten years down the line from now, if it happens. Simply because Discord is well-established and people are used to it.
FYI Skype is being transferred to Teams. Microsoft is phasing out Skype permanently.
By cramming 90% of its windowspace with ads.
Shareholder-enslaved companies are legally not allowed to resist making their product the worst possible thing it can be if there’s a single penny left on the table to wring out of it.
It has to make more money.
It has to make more money.
It has to make more money.
It has to make more money.
It has to make more money even if it kills the product.
Exactly this ^
Publicly owned companies have a tendency to do this. Because shareholders are only worried about infinite growth, they chase massive short term profits and they bleed the company dry, often killing the company.
I hate using discord, but it’s my main guild communication tool. I wish we could use something in game, but they don’t like the chat features.
I don’t understand… what does going public mean? How would that affect us as users of the app? Am I missing something?
When companies go public, that’s when the shareholders start demanding eternal growth and businesses start implementing unhinged offerings such as a $90 cash shop mount or take-your-pick-from-any-other-publicly-traded-game.
The quality goes down which the focus shifts to profits YOY.
Guilded would be better than viable… if people didn’t hate the Roblox company. lol
In the most simple way to explain it. When a company goes public, they start selling off shares (or stocks) of the company. This gives investors power of the company and it’s products. Often time it means they start getting more aggressive with marketing. More adds, less features. Even charging for features that used to exist as a way to fleece the consumer.
Yup. Going public is the end of “it’s ready when it’s ready” and any similar company offerings relating to quality of services.
Well, unless I am forced to pay something, which is an unknown as we speak… it sounds like it doesn’t affect me in any way, at least not yet. Thank you for the explanation though.
The price will be usability.
Ensh*tt*f*cat*on does not spare anything.
