You changed it so Zaralek Rares only drop loot once every 5 days, as their section resets (with Caldera Rares being once every 7 days, presumably).
EDIT: To Clarify for people who don’t understand: We were told in hotfix notes that rares will now have their loot lockout reset when their subzone resets, (which is every 5 days), rather than every day, and their loot rewards would be increased to compensate. Here’s a Wowhead Article Explaining how Zaralek Caverns Rare Subzones Work for those unfamiliar with it: https://www.wowhead.com/news/zaralek-cavern-rare-and-event-rotation-explained-how-do-rares-work-332822
Yet the rares still only drop 1 Drake Fragment and ~13 Flightstones, the same amount they dropped when they were daily.
You cut the amount of Drake Fragments and Flightstones Outdoor Players can farm in by 20%, while touting you were “increasing rewards?”
Side Note, you essentially made it so these rares are going to be almost impossible to kill after Tuesday now.
You also managed to make Zaralek Caverns a ghost town on one of the most populated servers less than a month into the patch with this change, and this was on a Tuesday. Thanks for that. You guys may not have seen rares as the “main draw” of Zaralek, but a lot of players did. You also haven’t explained what the developers do see as the main feature of Zaralek, because the players don’t understand what you seem to think the main feature of Zaralek is, because all we see are the Rares.
Good question. I happened to loot two rares today after reset, and thought they dropped the same currency as before. (Maybe the drop chance for mounts, gear, pets, etc. has been increased?)
It would be nice if rares (and maybe even treasures) dropped Loamm Niffen rep to help people finish their weekly quest. 75 rep per world quest and 50 rep per bonus task is a little stingy.
So far, Korthia and ZM seemed like better zones for my particular playstyle. They had more solobale stuff, and the treasures and rares helped you finish the weekly wrapper quest.
It’s astounding that they had a sandbox superior to this place that came out in a .5 patch.
I went there to finish my weekly for the first time. I had about 400 rep, so I held off on using one of my 2500 rep items to auto-complete it. It was a miserable experience, with getting 600 rep from the Researcher event and then having to grind the rest. It wasn’t even necessarily that much work, but it was enough for me to say I never want to do that work again.
Yes. The rares are still up when they are. However, the ability to get loot from them will only reset when their zone resets. It was in the hotfix notes yesterday.
So if you looted all of them today, the only ones you’ll be able to loot tomorrow should be Alcanon and Spinmarrow (the 2 rares that aren’t active today). Then whatever zone goes inactive tomorrow will have their loot reset and you’ll be able to loot them the day after tomorrow.
Blizzard seems to think Rares aren’t the “Main Activity” for Zaralek Caverns, but doesn’t want to enlighten us as to what the main activity is.
There’s literally nothing else to do down there other than Researchers Under Fire. And if they think Researchers is the main draw for Caverns, they need a reality check.
The Rares are the main thing that got people to go to the Caverns. Now it’s going to be a ghost town after Tuesday/maybe Wednesday. You might see people on days that Karokta Resets, but that’s about it.
As someone who only goes to that zone like maybe two times a week, I’m not sure I like this change. Mainly because I feel like I will have a much harder time actually getting rares killed. I was really wondering why no one was around hunting them, usually my server is hopping at most times in new zones.
I’m on Proudmoore, a very populated server, and I saw maybe 6-7 people total today in Zaralek Caverns.
On a Tuesday. Could I have been in a dead shard? Sure. But over the day I was in a few different shards, and they were all the same. Barely anyone around, rares alive and untouched. The only rare ever really being killed were ones that dropped pets or the mount. The odds of me being in multiple dead shards on a populated server is very slim.
Yeah, I killed a few rares today, and I didn’t really notice anything different. Still the same old items dropping in the same amounts, and it’s like pulling teeth trying to get anyone but myself to kill them on my server. So…I decided to go level my mage instead.
I am honestly a little disappointed by this content patch. Previous content patches were so much more in depth, detailed, involved, LONG TERM. For example, the argussian reach etc in Legion, leading up to Antorus the burning throne. More recently, the shadowlands content patch, Korthia, and then Zereth Mortis, had WAY MORE TO DO, and none of them had these crazy restrictions. Korthia was SLIGHTLY similar in that the rares kinda rotated, but not for FIVE DAYS AT A TIME.
All Zaralek has going for it are the little mini events that you grind Boulders & Bartering stones for. Woo. There’s ONE mount rare, which we now get to kill essentially ONCE A WEEK LIKE A WORLD BOSS.
I’m already bored. I also normally don’t complain!!! I LOVE THIS GAME. Been playing it for near 18 years!!! I love collecting mounts, and exploring, and rep grinding and doing all the things. I am EASY to please. So me saying I’m bored with this zone and am already going back to old content?..
Not to mention the fiasco with the blue dragonflight quest yesterday, and the spawn rate in crystalsong forest.
Ya’ll tryin to tell me that in EIGHTEEN YEARS you haven’t figured out to up spawn rates for things and make it scale so multiple people can hit it??? Or to ALWAYS put auto-dismount around ALL QUEST NPCS?
EIGHTEEN YEARS BLIZZ
COME ON
I honestly feel like they rush things half the time
