Well it seems likely that SL is going to have the largest alpha/beta phases ever for WoW because SL is so packed with changes that its remaining in internal testing longer than any of the previous expansions so far at this point. All while “NO SPOILZ PLZ DONT DATAMINE!!!” and “YES SPOILZ PLZ DATAMINE!!!” people go nuts! :crazy_face: But hey, the Shadowlands Beta realm has popped up recently, and people have recently received Alpha flags recently, so maybe we will see it soon enough.

alpha flags as invites? usually i always recieve an alpha or beta inv
 didnt yet
 although ive bought the expansion the moment it was released

Yes it is known that people, perhaps by accident, got their Battlenet accounts flagged for SL Alpha without being a Blizzard developer. But it is not possible to play yet.

pre-purchase has nothing to do with anything when it comes to invites.

Go to Wowhead’s front page. Do you see massive amounts of datamining posts?

If not, it’s because alpha and beta have not been released yet.

Question? Why do people care beyond being able to gauge when the next expansion is coming out? How does one not decrease the lifetime value of live if they’ve played through alpha/beta?

Is it that you’re just really into understanding where the money making professions are going to be? Is it that you’re so bored with current live that you just want to jump ahead from a content perspective? The latter seems like you’re just putting yourself on a treadmill you’ll never be able to get off.

This is probably the most common interest. Personally I don’t want to play beta, and I don’t think I’ve ever bothered even when I’ve gotten an invite, but I am interested in seeing the data-mining and getting more information on the upcoming expansion because what we’ve seen so far feels very lackluster.

At this time there is no word on when the beta for Shadowlands will begin.

Your best bet is to keep an eye on the Official World of Warcraft Website, As when beta goes Live, You should see an announcement there. :slight_smile:

Additionally, When the beta goes Live, You will see special Message Boards appear on these Community Forums designed for feedback on the beta test.

Currently it is assumed that Friends and Family Alpha has already started. There have been a few “patches” for an encrypted version of the game that is in the launcher. Since these usually have a pretty hefty NDA attached to them, I doubt any leaks will happen till later version of the Alpha hit.

Expect more information closer towards the end of the month, but at the same time things will be going kind of slower.
