I want to play my outlaw and surv alts but I refuse to grind all my essences to R3 again (been there, done that)
between item level, AP level and essences, the barriers to alting are way too much (at least in previous expansions one could pvp to buy gear and be done until the next tier)
come on blizzard, quit being a garbo company and at least pretend you want to make a quality game

Essences will never be account wide. They are character progression, not account progression. Maybe they’ll put catch up mechanics in for some of them at some point, but they’ll never make tham account wide.
Sounds like a QoL change for the player. Means we’ll never get it.
I have my doubts 8.3 will introduce anything like that, it sure will be a blizzcom topic if they plan to go that way.
Item level is a joke to get. Neck levels are a joke to get now, and we still have one more week of AK. Essences are the only barrier to alting that keeps them from getting played as much as they would have previously.
Why do you even bother mentioning item level and AP? Gear rains from the sky, getting a remotely decent item level is a joke. AP is a joke too with all the weekly reductions, so I don’t see how AP is an issue. Another month or so and neck level 65 will be a one week affair.
I’ll support making essences easier to obtain for alts. But I’m firmly against making them account wide.

Easier for alts, sure. Account wide, nah. I know I suck on my Shaman. It wouldn’t feel right if she automatically got the rank 3 M+ essences, raid essences, repuation essences, etc… just for hitting level 120. I’d say an argument could be made to make Rank 1 or Rank 2 account wide but that wouldn’t satisfy the people wanting them account wide. Rank 3 and Rank 4 should definitely remain character based though.
Why do we need hard barriers to alts? If the goal of Blizzard is time played, a lot of people would play WoW more if we could have fun on our alts. I personally am not interested in logging in every day to do world quests on my alts for a month straight to be able to have fun on them. I just play other games instead between my raid nights. Our alt raid night used to be a fun activity for our guild, that has been cancelled since 8.2.
Honestly, who would it hurt if essences were account wide besides Blizzards ego?
You don’t need an essence to play an alt.
Not sure why you’re responding to me? Never said anything one way or the other about essences. Just pointed out that two of the three things they mentioned in their post didn’t matter.
If your intention is to be a carry on your alt, you’re right.
If your intention is to play it to a capacity that contributes to group success, you do.
Why would you need rank 3 on your alts? Am I wrong in thinking that none of this content is gated behind the ranks of your essences? So I’m pretty sure you can still play your alts without having rank 3 on all your characters.
I came back just 1 week ago got several essences to level 2 and one to 3. These things were not hard to get so I don’t get the complaint. It was enough to beat the raid on heroic.
Why do you need to min max with your alts?
This is a disturbing thing to ask.
Why min max on anything? Why push the boundaries of the all the available content of the game? Why try to achieve anything when you can just be mediocre?
There are 36 specializations in the game. Why are we pigeonholed into 1 or 2? Even a full time streamer WOW 24/7 is incapable of playing them all at a higher level. WoW has always been very punishing and unfriendly to playing other than 1 spec.
Sorry to say this but they need to take note of FF and add a way to play more specializations.
My characters contributed to group success for the last 2 seasons without essences. Do essences give a good powerup? Definitely. Are you useless without them? Not in the slightest. That said basic essences are very easy to obtain.
The complaint really isn’t them being hard to get. At least, not from anyone reasonable.
It’s that the content required to get them is boring, tedious and far too easy to complete. Especially on repetition.
Content that doesn’t challenge me, or make me think, or provide anything new doesn’t have a reason to exist, and after I’ve done it once, I should at least be able to speed it up.
I think it’s disturbing to want your alts to be as powerful as your main without the investment.
Right because a fresh 120 is so punishing with Rank 3 essences and nothing else…
Not only do you need to spend a large sum of time getting optimized gear you have to actually learn to play the spec.
Its to no surprise you arent grasping any of this because youve literally done nothing in this game aside from collect mogs which im sure your rank 1 essences will work fine for. Youve done no raiding, no M+ and no PVP.
Why do you insist on commenting on things you know nothing about and have zero participation in? Oh thats right. Youre trolling.
Because I want to be competitive with other players without having to wait a month+ on arbitrary timegates that have little to do with character progression and are more akin to garbage game design (@blizzard)
I mainly pvp, it’s already disturbing enough how much we’re pigeonholed into doing content that we (the community) have little interest in doing and have been able to for the last idk 6 expansions until blizzard put a clown in charge and absolutely killed the last bit of decent design left in the pvp department (awful class designs, little to no balance done, and now non existent pvp gear progression)
the last thing I’m interested in is doing the same silly and brain damage inducing grind (this comes from a guy with over 30k achievement points, I can handle a grind) over and over on every alt I want to play, since you’re at a massive disadvantage without rank3 essences
you cant even contribute to a 50%+ winrate at 500 in 2s on your main, so tbh I’m not sure with what authority you speak
