I didn’t play much of Shadowlands, so I might have missed the big “Star Wars” ceremony with Boss Nass shouting PEACE in the end… so did I miss some in-game event like that?
…or is this a classic case of “gotta buy all the merchandise outside the game’s lore to know what’s happening”…
It was covered in the Battle for Azeroth story, but basically there was a revolt within the Horde during Sylvanas’ reign (she committed genocide and many other war crimes, supposedly to feed the machine of death for the Jailer), and they joined with the Alliance to try to overthrow her. Before Siege of Orgrimmar 2.0 could happen, Saurfang challenged her to Mak’gora (a duel), she cheated, told the Horde they were “nothing”, then went on her merry way to join with the Jailer. The Horde then formed a council as opposed to choosing a new Warchief, and there is a tenuous truce between the two factions since.
The story is controversial for a few reasons, but that is roughly what happened.

It happened at the end of bfa
It was epilogue stuff but all covered via in game quests.
Not sure if they got removed or not.

Specifically, when Anduin, Thrall, and company carried Saurfang’s body into Orgrimmar.

Wait, what. Is there a truce?
Between governments, yes. Between individuals, maybe so, maybe not.

Well thankfully this wasn’t one of those moments where U have to buy or search outside the game to find out if you played through BFA.
It was a conflict of alliance vs horde that then switched to sylvanas who was the then leader of the horde and finding her, to then battling azshara, and then n’zoth which had us end in a treaty of sorts.
Wow, bfa was a real hodgepodge of things lol when I think back to it.
They really blew through, IMO, 3 expansions’ worth of content in a short amount of time by skimming hard.

Absolutely. It’s amazing how badly that expansion was thought through and put together. It was really the epitome of when people say that someone threw things at a wall to see what stuck. That’s how BFA felt. Holy hell was it a mess.
Definitely lots of expansions there.
Funny how now we are going back to hints of old gods in Dragonflight
They really subvert expectations lol
They probably sped through it because the whole premise was such an affront to most of the playerbase.
Well I dunno about everyone else, but I LOVE Orcs. I mean, I’m not keen on Goblins (weird little green moneygrubbers) but the rest of the Horde I’m fairly cool with.
If they invited me to Orgrimmar and guaranteed no punting, I’d be there in a flash.

Did you guys not play the last quest chain of BfA ?
Anduin literally walks into Orgrimmar carrying Saurfang’s corpse, with Based Forsaken Flag girl starting the Flag drumming.
One of the best cinematics of BfA.
Truce between NPCs not PCs
. We inavde their peaceful world pilaging their dungeons, mountains, and raiding the castles.
I quit the game midway through BFA, and haven’t returned until recently.
And in Blizzard’s patented idea of rushing people to the current content, I might have missed that quest.
At the end of every expansion alliance and horde hug it out only to start kicking doors down once expansion hits because for some reason arenas and bgs need to have lore justification, as if anyone actually gives a damn lol
It’ll probably amount to “Civil War Reenactment” Festivals now…
There is a council at the end of SL. To address the how and why of Sylvanas, and how both Factions have to be involved to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Sadly, that may never be possible. Some people are just really mean and don’t like gnomes.
