Back in my day Ironforge was the capitol of the alliance. And while we had none of this “high king” nonesense the closest we had was our king Magni Bronzebeard.

What in the lands of madness happened while I was frozen in northrend?

They built a Portal Room in Stormwind but never made one for Ironforge.

In happened in Wrath when Blizzard made the docks in Stormwind to go to Northrend. Blizzard decided the Alliance was a monarchy for some reason and wanted to make Varian king of it was well.

To be fair, I always thought it was Humans Vs Orcs with all other races playing a side part in this game.

The “high king” nonsense started in WotLK when Varian suddenly had the authority to order the entire Alliance to accept death knights into their ranks and not one person disputed it.

IronForge was always very popular hub, but I’ve been playing for 19 years and to my knowledge, the king of the alliance has always sat in stormwind.

There was no “king of the alliance” until MoP when Varian was made High King for no explicable reason.

Menethil Harbor went to Howling Fjord and Stormwind went to Borean Tundra. Stormwind became the main city in Cataclysm when they added the Earth Shrine.

Iron Forge is way cooler, it’s an absolute fortress of a city.

As a noob I remember walking up to the entrance, it was truly breathtaking and then you go inside and it’s just jaw dropping!

Stormwind is standard Alliance city, wide open to attack from land, sea, and air. :laughing:

Which never made much sense to me. The horde had east to east and west to west for northrend travel. Darnassus should have led to Borean Thundra. Or Theramore.
