So whats the line between proper representation and "pandering"

i prefer The Great Swog myself really.

I simply have trouble taking anyone saying that seriously because of how it’s currently set up. As far as I’m aware most of this stuff is set inside optional side quests, I view this more as just looking for trouble at a certain point.

There are people who like to complete things though. For the people who like to complete things, get Loremaster, things like that, they might feel a certain way too. Just because something is in a side quest doesn’t mean the people who experience it can’t form their own personal opinions.

I advocate for representation. I dislike tokenism. I thought Pelagos was done fine. I thought the gay couple in Ardenweald was done fine. I thought Tyrande and Malfurion was done horribly. WoW in general is bad at this kind of writing no matter who the subject is.

This is true but still a footnote and meaningless. It’s a one and done. It’s not like nozdormu and sordormi, lorthemar and thalyssra or anything like that which will have lore implications and will be present later in most scenarios. The writing isn’t great but it would also be obtuse to mention that for most it being “bad writing” is more of a ruse considering none of the important lore present relationships have threads made up by them at the same rate.

It’s automatically pandering if Blizzard does it, because they want everyone to forget about the sexual harassment lawsuit and they want people to think that they’ve changed because they’re including more women and LGBTQ characters instead of straight males.

It shouldn’t be present in most scenarios in the first place is my stance. WoW’s not about romance. Or at least it shouldn’t be. It should be about people trying to kill each other and people trying to kill world ending threats. If Lor’themar and Thalyssra are thrown in my face constantly doing romantic things, I’d be just as, if not more annoyed lol

Won’t say who for spoilers for the campaign but we do indeed have a cinematic of once again a couple being lovey dovey at the center of the lore.

In side quests? I think it matters at least a little bit. It’s a lil weird to have a world where there are almost zero relationships. Straight or otherwise.

I didn’t want kids and got 4 of them, love them all too. Interesting how that can happen when you do things as intended.

For me and only my opinion. I am 45 years old and started gaming with Atari 2600 released. That was a long time ago. Games are for enjoyment not politcal pandering. I dont agree putting real world events into a video game. Just build the game and let people play. No matter which approach they take, someone will always be offended so deal with the majority player base for wants.

Want to know who is truly privileged?

See who you can’t talk bad about. Those are the ones with the real power.

Hint, it’s not the ones most in this thread think are privileged

Don’t you remember the uproar when Ms. Pac-Man was released?

Why is it Ms. instead of Mrs.?
Why does she have a pink bow?
Why couldn’t it have been LGBTQ+ Pac-Man?

People that complain about pandering are basically like complaining in a grocery store that sells food you don’t like.

Whata sad lonely life you must live if you want a story with zero relationships. And not even just 1 story. But literally hundreds. Also, its crap. Warcraft 3 literally started with Arthas and Jaina obviously being into each other. And had the Illidian, Malf, Tyrande love triangle.

And you don’t know the meaning of phobic! I asked you several times to post something phobic and all you could say was you infer or assume what people are saying is that, that isn’t how it works.

It’s actually the opposite. You’re playing a role, not yourself.

No it isn’t, maybe that person feels that it is unfair that a small percentage of players are catered too.

AH yes, the whole “forced to conform” sh*&^. You’re not forced to play this game. Move along.

I’d love to hear about these people I can’t talk about who have all this power.

Is it the mexican mafia?

You see this is the thing that drives me crazy, I hate it when people like you speak on behalf of me (I happen to be brown). No thank you I don’t need people to feel sorry for me or say I need more representation. If you knew anything about hispanics you would know that we love this country and could care less about these sort of things.

No one is saying that, the problem isn’t the game but the forums. Blizzard can do as they please, it is people who make ridiculous threads demanding more representation that triggers people.
