So what's going on with the Kirin Tor? *spoilers*

8.1.5 Spoilers under the Spoiler Tag.

8.1.5 Spoiler

On the PTR, in the new Portal Rooms, in the SW Portal Room, there are KirinTor Banners all over the Place, and there are KirinTor Mages walking throughout the room.

In the Orgrimmar Portal Room, there are no KirinTor Banners, but there are Sunreavers throughout the Portal Room.

Made even weirder, there’s no portal to Legion Dalaran. The Broken Isles Portal instead goes to Azsuna.

At first people thought this was just to prevent confusion between having 2 Dalaran Portals (as there’s one to Wrath Dalaran). However, I have to wonder if this was an intentional.

What if this was done because lorewise, Legion Dalaran no longer exists where it used to be? What if the KirinTor ‘purged’ Aethas and the Sunreavers from Dalaran like Jaina did, and moved Dalaran to a secret location to hide themselves from the Horde?

Could 8.1.5 be foreshadowing of the KirinTor having rejoined the Alliance and the Sunreavers the Horde? EDIT: I doubt Khadgar would follow the KirinTor into the Alliance, however.

And yes, I’m well aware this is a PTR topic, however, as this lore affects more than just the PTR, I thought I’d talk about it here.

Could be, Kirin Tor as part of the alliance has always been cool, because of the 1st and 2nd war thingys. But yeah, considering the amount of arcane knowledge the horde has with the Nightborne + Blood Elves the alliance is certain to need them.

They use Kirin Tor for Alliance because they dont want to use Silver Covenant, probably because they’re getting slaughtered in future patch.

Well, I mean, half of the Silver Convenant lives in Dalaran. =v

Exactly, they use Sunreaver and Kirin tor because they dont want to use Silver Covenant.

This isn’t unprecedented in any case. On the Isle of Thunder, the Alliance faction hub was named after the Kirin Tor rather than the Silver Covenant. The Sunreavers were still the Horde equivalent.

Khadgar is sleeping in the Mage Order Hall I’m guessing.

In my eyes, the Kiron Tor have always been Alliance. And they are still Alliance.

They are just opportunistic and will accept Horde bodies to accomplish their goal when it suits them. Then drop the Horde at a moments notice.

I mean, to be alliance they would have to help the alliance in the first place. If anything they are opportunistic to both bodies, after they don’t need neither alliance nor horde’s help they just isolated themselves again.

It’s Silver Covenant members operating the portal.

Follow into the Alliance, no. Kill a crazy-azz world threat like Sylvanas who is messing with Old Gods, YES!

Maybe has to do with Sunreavers already being in thin ice after using Dalaran to center a heist on Darnassus. After that, it was pretty much Alliance.

And nuking the capital city of the night elves, yea, I cant imagine many competent factions wanting to deal with the Horde right now.

I suppose since BfA is all about Horde vs. Alliance, it would make sense if Kirin Tor are helping Alliance, that they would have purged the Horde from Dalaran again.

But on the other hand… it could also easily be that Kirin Tor continues to try and be neutral and be a beacon of hope for peace between the factions, but currently finds themselves at odds with the Horde under the leadership of Sylvannas.

Like, maybe the Horde Kirin Tor learned from the mistakes from when they got ousted for helping Garrosh, and don’t want to repeat that mistake with Sylvannas.

Who knows… will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Hopefully they put some actual thought and good writing into this instead of just shoving major events down our throats with 30 seconds of in-mission dialogue that completely change the lore of the game forever.

Fixed for you.

Dalaran again on the side of the alliance? I’m not surprised.
