FYI the what’s next WoW panel is at 2:30 PDT. So, in about 2 hours.
The new feature from what I could gather is the “Covenants” in the Shadowlands. Four unique bigger-than-factions factions that impact your experience, or at least that’s how I’d imagine they’ll pitch it. Who knows what actually changes until the panel reveals.
That must mean there is no level squish
I’d guess the squish will apply in 9.0 and they’ll change the boost to a “level 50 boost” at that point.

My only hope is that the tower has variable player numbers. Like doubles in addition to 5s.
More of the same, World of Rng. Useless gear and trade skills. The only thing they are going to try to make interesting to you is opening your wallet for micro transactions in retail.
