All at once lol and have yet to hear melee moan about ele armor.

Pretty sure Aug has more than all that with blistering scales active

And boomy armor in moonkin form wont surpass any plate class.

Boomy armor being coined here like its the most insane thing

i disagree

no, pvp is actually all you’re referring to. if you want to refer to something that isn’t pvp, leave the arena forum

rofl ok im done

I mean you have more armor value than my DK and as much as my Ret Paladin both at 422 outside of Arenas.

Kind of a weird issue with AV currently where its either useless or too strong where it shouldn’t be. I actually recall a thread by Remi going over Boomkin armor and they also have more active armor mitigation at base than some plate wearers do lol.

One of the reasons they can deal with pressure from melee (and hunters) so well is that. Whether its a bit too strong is a bit unclear, I don’t like feeling like I’m hitting them for chump change all the time. Generally I can feel myself doing more to a warlock or a Spriest even if they’re still very tanky.

Murph linked his armor in that thread and it was like 9k i think?

its good but an entire thread dedicated to it good? no

I’m sitting here looking at my Ret paladin with 8.7k wondering why that’s a thing though.

What’s the point of separate classes of armor if they do not have any meaning lol

Because Ret doesn’t equip a shield and Shaman does?

I understand that and I wasn’t explicitly talking about Shaman, Boomkin falls under this as well.

It’s sort of weird to have an armor system that functions the way Blizzards does. I’ve not claimed it to be OP just… bizarrely designed.

The way I look at it is that a Boomkin going into bear form denies access to DPS abilities much the same way a Ret loses access to DPS abilities for putting on a shield.

you’re so real for this

Boomkin has more armor than most plate and mail wearers -in- Boomkin form though which was the point of that aforementioned thread.

My bad then. Carry on. I was thinking bear form.

Moonkin and Shaman are expected to take hits so they’re armor is higher basically. Think most casters have a backlash effect but owlkin fury and ele instants have been staples for a long time.

They also have shorter range utility spells like clone and shear while a mage can counterspell from 40 yards and doesnt even have to be facing you.

because ret had bunch of mitigation added after the rework. Pretty sure you’d have higher armor than moonkin if Sanctified Plates didnt get nerfed.

I have 1% more at a basic level, DK’s have up to 3% less.

I escape this issue because of Blessing of dusk not Sanctified plates. 34% is counting sanctified plates.

Again I’m not arguing this is some OP thing, I’m arguing its a really weird way to go about designing your armor system. It’s sort of the lazy way out of making Boomkins (and Ele shams I guess but they as Seratox said at least have to equip a shield) tankier to physical damage (not that they aren’t also good into Casters currently because boomkin)

Armor is just kinda archaic

Theres some sort of semblance of logic to it but it gets muddled the older the game gets.

Shaman have all that armor but still historically get cut down by melee

Long ago I chose shaman because I liked the idea of a “battle mage” that isnt the typical cloth wizard archetype

Probably because you lose a lot more for how you have to kite than Boomkin do, as well as how boomkin can deal with people compared to you.

They were gutted a few months into original Wrath, the classic version is the last patch of Wrath.

PvP on ret back then was running around one shotting people most of the time with judgement interaction with a seal and a talent, if they got a defensive off you had them at 10% and followed up with hammer. Literally 2 globals (one more often than not) no cd’s. Back then we had actual one shots because we had a lot of power stacked up in trees and very little HP.

Literally insane too b/c you could use healing from seal/art of war to insta top yourself from the damage. Point being Wrath went through a lot of hotfixes, what we had at the start and through the evolution of the expansion isn’t anything near what classic is now, like I said it’s the last patch. If they’d have actually ran the expansion start to finish you’d see things that would make DF look slow.
