Thinking about starting an alt, but I do NOT want to start at the beginning of reputation grinds.

you can hover over each reward box on the renown tab of each faction, it will specify “account unlock” for each reward that is unlocked for an alt.

Also, if you get a main character to 10/20 renown level, the rep from just quest chains will get you higher than you need for profession recipes and first knowledge points etc.

That’s not the true problem. I have leveled 8 characters now. I issue is that although the game says that you can go to any zone and has WQ unlocked, certain zones and areas are locked out until you still do the main questline for that zone.

Nothing special they basically did nothing when they said yes account wide is coming.

This is some of what is unlocked account wide for renown. I don’t have a list of all of them and I cant get online to check.

Dragonscale Expedition

  • Renown 2 - Expedition Scout pack treasures can be found around the Dragon Isles.
  • Renown 5 - Buried Treasures - Ability to find and dig through Disturbed Dirt mounds as long as you possess an Expedition Shovel, purchasable at the Dragonscale Basecamp from Pathfinder Jeb.
  • Renown 16 - Bagic Bound Chests - Ability to open Magic Bound Chests as long as you possess an Echanted Lockpicks, purchaseable from Pathfinder Jeb in the Dragonscale Basecamp.

Iskaara Tuskarr

  • Renown 3 - Community Feasts - Unlock Community Feasts, allowing you to partake and contribute to the great tuskarr feasts earning rep and a well deserved food buff.

Maruuk Centaur

  • Renown 4 - Call of the Plains – The Aylaag Nomads will welcome you into their camp, wherever it happens to be.
  • Renown 5 - Call of the Hunt - Join the hunt alongside the Shikaar centaurs!

Valdrakken Accord

  • Renown 5 - Siege on Dragonbane Keep - Unlock the Siege on Dragonbane Keep in the Waking Shores.
  • Renown 7 - Aerial Challenges - Unlock Dragonriding World Quests around the Dragon Isles.

The rep is a decent improvement, but yea, it’d be nice if they kept up with including more account wide elements.

The Expedition photography and mountain climbing WQ unlocks are also account-wide. I can’t remember what levels you unlock them at though.

Yea, I don’t recall offhand how those were unlocked :frowning:
I swore they were from side quests though.

A decent solution imo, is just ask the player what they want to do with an alt, kind of like threads of fate, but with all progress on your main. For example, playing a main, and an alt would be virtually identical, besides gear and professions, but the world state would be the same, and then you can give them the option to instead start that alt fresh with no gains for your main.

That seems to be missing quite a bit. Like with the Expedition, the unlocks that enable planting flags on mountains for bonus rep, Ancient Waygates, the Climbing/Photo WQs (though you may need to be 70 to actually do them), and the perk tree that you spend resources to make said WQs easier are all account-wide.

The ability to purchase cosmetics from each faction also seems to be an account-wide thing, I bought the plate Expedition set on a character who wasn’t actually at that renown level last week.

Updated: According to Wowhead, rock climbing is Expedition renown 6 and photography is expedition rank 8.

main questline is not required for WQs but there are different side quests that unlock a few specific WQs like the arena in plains that needs you to do the whole arena quest bosses first.

The elemental storms, especially the one where you have to enter the time portal to get to. Must have chromie’s questline done to participate in that.
